The Center for Open Government
Services
The Center for Open Government advises and represents citizens
or citizens groups who need legal assistance in their efforts to
hold government accountable.
We represent citizens who need assistance in drafting requests
for information pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information
Act, (FOIA) or in filing administrative appeals, when such requests
have been denied.
We represent citizens or citizens groups who choose to litigate
denials of FOIA requests.
We represent citizens or citizens groups who seek to challenge
public bodies that fail to comply with the openness required by
the Illinois Open Meetings Act.
We will consider participating in other citizen litigation on
a case by case basis.
All legal services will be provided on a pro bono basis. However,
clients are expected to pay any costs or fees related to their litigation.
