Chicago-Kent's Program in Labor and Employment Law allows students to specialize in the law governing the work place. Through a logical, carefully paced sequence of
course work and practical skills training, this program provides comprehensive, rigorous
preparation for the field of labor and employment law, a dynamic area of concentration that
includes labor unions, equal employment opportunity, employment relationships, and employee
benefits.
The program is open to any student who is enrolled at Chicago-Kent. Day students begin the
program in their second year; evening students in their second or third year. The program is
designed for students from a broad range of backgrounds -- some will have actual work
experience in labor and employment relations, while others simply have a keen interest in this
challenging area of law.
Students in the program earn the Certificate in Labor and Employment Law by successfully completing ten credit hours of required courses in labor and employment law, a highly-specialized course in advanced research and drafting in labor law, and additional elective courses. Students also gain hands-on experience through the program's required practicum component.
