WestlawNext Comes To Chicago-Kent

On October 15, a revolution in legal research will go live for all Chicago-Kent students – WestlawNext will debut on your academic passwords. It may not be more powerful than
a speeding bullet, but it certainly will change the way most of us research, and the ways in which we incorporate our research into our written work.

WestlawNext debuted to lawyers in January, so some of you may have already encountered it where you work. If you have not, the odds are that you will soon meet it. We want you to be prepared, to be able to use WestlawNext both in your work here at
C-K and also in your work as law clerks and lawyers. So we’ve scheduled training sessions, and we urge each of you to attend at least the basic “Intro” session. First-year students will have WestlawNext training in their Legal Writing classes later in the semester, so the training sessions listed below are intended for upper-class students.

Here are the ground rules for training:

Each of you will see a new TWEN “Course” when you sign on to Westlaw – “WestlawNext Training Information”

The schedule for training is:

  • Monday, October 18 th – 4:30 to 5:30 – Introduction of WestlawNext – Room 510
  • Tuesday, October 19 th – 12:00 – 1:00 – Introduction to WestlawNext – Room 510
  • Wednesday, October 20 th – 300 – 4:00 – Introduction to WestlawNext – Room 510
  • Monday, October 25 th – 4:30 – 5:30 – Productivity Tools on WestlawNext – Room 510

If you want to attend one or both training sessions, you must register using the sign-up sheets on the left-hand side of the TWEN page. Be there or be square!
