Client Management/Project Management -- What Is It and Why Is It Important to My Success as a Lawyer?

As you know, there is an increasing demand among legal employers for law graduates who have "practical" or "experiential" skills. Chicago-Kent and the Labor/Employment Law Certificate Program have designed a curriculum that includes Clinical opportunities, other practicum opportunities, mentoring, and speakers to ensure that all our students have ample opportunity to learn something about the practice of law BEFORE graduation.

Client contact is not something we can easily teach in law school classes, although we do have the Employment Litigation simulation and Clinical classes. But for those who want to learn from an expert, we have a program you should plan to attend.

Tuesday, April 1, 4:30 -- 5:50 p.m., room 570

Amanda Sonneborn is a partner in the Labor & Employment Department at Seyfarth Shaw, LLP, a nationwide firm with its roots in Chicago. Ms. Sonneborn advises clients in industries from health care to retail to gaming on both labor relations law and other employment issues. She helps design and lead training courses for Seyfarth clients, teaches as an adjunct faculty member here at Chicago-Kent, and is active in a wide variety of management-side activities.

Ms. Sonneborn will talk about clients: how to get them, how to manage their expectations and their projects, and generally what to do to forge a successful relationship with them. There will be plenty of time for questions.

Refreshments will be served.
