1998-99 Outside Scholarships
Throughout the academic year, the Office of Admissions receives notices
of scholarships that are offered through external organizations. Information
about all of the scholarship notices that we have received this year is
listed below. Award notices are listed by the date on which they
were posted.
Another good source of information about outside scholarship awards
is fastWEB on the internet. This site maintains a searchable database
of over 400,000 scholarship awards for which you may apply. You can

Northwest Suburban Bar Association Foundation
The Northwest Suburban Bar Association Foundation will award three
scholarships for the Spring semester, 1999. Third year law students
will be eligible for a $2,000 scholarship; second year students for a $1,500
scholarship; and first year students for a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants
must be residents of the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division,
regardless of
the law school attended. Interested candidates must submit the application,
letters of recommendation, transcripts, and a one page statement.

Hispanic Lawyers Scholarship Fund of Illinois
The Hispanic Lawyers Scholarship Fund of Illinois (HLSF) provides financial
assistance to first-year Latino and Latina law students through its scholarship
program. The awarding of scholarships will be based on the recipient's
application and a personal interview with the HLSF selection committee.
The criteria evaluated by the selection committee includes, but is not
limited to the applicant's academic record, financial need, writing ability,
personal recommendations and career goals. A factor in the Committee's
consideration is the applicant's connection to the State of Illinois.
The scholarship(s) to be awarded will be a minimum of $1,000. The
scholarship application and additional information are available in the

Just the Beginning Foundation
Scholarships are available for full- and part-time students currently
enrolled in an Illinois law school who are in need of financial assistance.
Scholarship awards must be used during the 1998-99 academic year.
To be considered, applicants must submit a completed scholarship application,
a resume, a law school transcript, two letters of recommendation, a letter
of good standing, and a three page essay. The scholarship application
