Reevaluation of Chicago-Kent Scholarship Award Distribution -- Student Input Requested
Dear Chicago-Kent Students,

In response to concerns expressed regarding the allocation of scholarships at Chicago-Kent, the College of Law will reevaluate all of its policies regarding the awarding of merit-based scholarships, financial need-based scholarships and student activity awards.  It is likely that this reassessment will result in fundamental changes for the 1999-2000 academic year.  There may be significant changes in the terms and/or amounts of awards.  Some categories of aid may increase significantly and some may decrease significantly.  These changes will not affect the terms of current renewable scholarships.

As we begin the reevaluation process, we invite your input regarding the distribution of merit scholarships, financial need scholarships and student activity scholarships (Law Review editors, Moot Court Honor Society board, SBA president, etc.).  Please send your comments by e-mail to mburns1@kentlaw.edu.  All suggestions should be received by December 23, 1998.  I will present all comments and suggestions to the appropriate committee for their consideration.

Michael S. Burns
Assistant Dean for Admissions
