Asian Law Student Scholarship- Deadline
extended to Friday, September 29!
The following Chicago-Kent scholarship is currently available through
the Office of Admissions. To apply for the award, you must submit
your application materials to the Office of Admissions no later than Friday,
September 29, 2000.
Asian Law Student Scholarship
The Asian Law Student Scholarship was established
by alumnae/i and friends of Chicago-Kent, including the Chinese Bar
Association, to provide financial assistance to students of Asian descent.
Students, alumnae/i and friends celebrated the inception of this scholarship
fund at a Chinese New Year reception in February 1997. In awarding
the scholarship, the scholarship committee will give preference to students
planning to serve the Asian community. Interested applicants should
submit an essay describing their commitment to serving the needs of
the Asian American community and a letter of recommendation by persons
who can be contacted by the Chinese American Bar Association.
Applicants must be in good standing and must demonstrate commitment
to serving the needs of the Asian American community, a commitment to
and interest in pro bono and/or public interest legal work, financial
need and leadership potential. The recipient will be selected
by the Chinese American Bar Association. The scholarship amount
is approximately $1,000.

||Puerto Rican Bar Association Scholarship
The Puerto Rican Bar Association (PRBA) will award scholarships
of $2,000 to Latino law students attending law school in the United
States. Applicants must be enrolled in a J.D. program;
LL.M. students are not eligible for these awards. Recipients
will be selected based on financial need and academic promise.
Scholarship recipients will be contacted by PRBA directly.
Applicants should complete the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education
Fund (PRLDEF) Scholarship Application available in the Office of
Admissions, Suite 230.

||Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, Father Joseph
P. Fitzpatrick Scholarship Fund
The Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund (PRLDEF) will
award four $1,500 scholarships from the Father Joseph P. Fitzpatrick
Scholarship Fund. The scholarship fund's purpose is to support PRLDEF
in its efforts to ensure that talented Latino law students have
the resources needed to pursue a career in public interest law.
All Latino students attending law school in the United States are
eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants must be
enrolled in a J.D. program; LL.M. students are not eligible
for these awards. Applicants must demonstrate financial need
as well as a commitment to the Latino community. Scholarship
recipients will be announced in May 2001. Applications and

DuPage Association of Women Lawyers Foundation, Judge Helen
C. Kinney Scholarship
To honor the memory, vision and leadership of Judge Helen C. Kinney,
the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers has established a not-for-profit
foundation to award the Judge Helen C. Kinney Scholarship. All
second and third-year women law students enrolled in an accredited
law school in Illinois are eligible for this scholarship. The
Foundation anticipates awarding two $1,000 scholarships to deserving
women law students. Applications are available in the Office of
Admissions, Suite 230.
