Important Information for 2001-2002 Chicago-Kent Scholarship Recipients

If you have been awarded a Chicago-Kent scholarship for the 2001-2002 academic year, please refer to the Scholarship Policies from the current Student Handbook for important information concerning your award.  Please direct any questions about your scholarship to the Office of Admissions, Suite 230.

Throughout the year, the Office of Admissions receives notices of scholarships that are offered through external organizations. Information about the scholarship awards that are currently available is listed below.  Award notices are listed in the order in which they were received.

NEW! Knights of Dabrowski Crusade for Education Financial Aid Program
Application Deadline: May 31, 2002

Students of Polish descent in need of financial aid may apply to the Knights of Dabrowski's Crusade for Education program. A limited number of scholarships are available on the basis of documented financial need, academic performance and community involvement. To be eligible to apply, students must be full-time graduate students enrolled at a fully accredited university in the U.S. or full-time undergraduate juniors or seniors enrolled in pre-professional programs; be a U.S. citizen or documented legal alien of Polish descent; be in good academic standing with documented financial need; and be a Chicago metropolitan area resident for at least four years (proof of residency is required). To request an application, you must contact the Crusade for Education Program, Knights of Dabrowski, 5723 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60646 or call (773) 792-1800.

NEW! Serbian Bar Association of America
Application Deadline: April 23, 2002

The Serbian Bar Association is a non-profit and national organization based in Chicago, Illinois. It has been offering multiple scholarships to law students annually for the last eleven years. This year, scholarships will be awarded at the annual scholarship gala, which is to be held on May 10, 2002 at the Union League Club in downtown Chicago. All persons of Serbian birth or ancestry enrolled in an accredited law school in any state of the United States or the Commonwealth of Canada are eligible to apply. Applications are available in the Office of Admissions, Suite 230.

DuPage County Chapter of the Justinian Society of Lawyers Scholarships
Application Deadline: April 30, 2002

The DuPage County Chapter of the Justinian Society of Lawyers will award a scholarship to a student of Italian extraction who has completed at least one semester of law school in Illinois. In general, one award of $1,000 is made, but occasionally more than one applicant is chosen. The award will be made on or about May 11, 2002. Applicants must submit the scholarship application, a personal statement, letter of recommendation from a law school faculty member and a copy of their previous year's Federal income taxes.  Applications are available in the Office of Admissions, Suite 230.

Attorney-CPA Foundation Scholarships
Application Deadline: April 30, 2002

The Attorney-CPA Foundation will award ten scholarships in 2002 in amounts ranging from $250 to $1,000.The scholarships are open to law students who will be entering their third year of law school in Fall 2002 who have obtained a CPA certificate. Applicants will be evaluated based upon their academic performance, leadership in the school and community and need for assistance in completing their studies.  Recipients will be selected by the Attorney-CPA Foundation Scholarship Committee.  Applications are available in the Office of Admissions, Suite 230, or on the Foundation's web site at or by calling the Attorney-CPA Foundation at 800-CPA-ATTY.

USA Funds "Access to Education" Scholarships
Application Deadline: April 15, 2002

USA Funds, the nation's leading student-loan guarantor, will award renewable $1,500 scholarships to full-time graduate students with financial need. Up to 50 percent of the scholarships will be targeted to students who, in addition to demonstrating financial need, are members of an ethnic-minority group or are physically disabled. USA Funds will renew these scholarships until students complete their degrees or until the total amount awarded to each student reaches $6,000, whichever comes first, as long as the student remains continuously enrolled and maintains a 2.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Polish Women's Civic Club, Inc. Scholarship
Application Deadline: June 25, 2002

The Polish Women's Civic Club, Inc. is a philanthropic organization of American women of Polish descent interested in discovering the richness of their Polish heritage and sharing it with others. Realizing that education is the main tool for deepening an appreciation of culture and advancing a people, the Club supports educational activities and the personal efforts of Polish American students, male and female, through financial scholarships. To qualify for a scholarship, applicants must (1) be a United States citizen; (2) have at least one parent of Polish heritage; (3) be a Chicago area resident enrolled as a full-time student in their second year or beyond; (4) exhibit definite financial need; and (5) have acceptable grades. Scholarship applications are available in the Office of Admissions, Suite 230, or by enclosing a self-addressed stamped envelope and writing to: Polish Women's Civic Club, Attn: Therese Brzezinski, Education Committee Chairman, P.O.
