External Scholarships

Throughout the year, the Office of Admissions receives notices of scholarships that are offered through external organizations. Information about the scholarship awards that are currently available is listed below.  Award notices are listed in the order in which they were received.

NEW! The Jeremy Protas LGBT Patent Law Scholarship

Application Deadline: July 31, 2010

Jeremy D. Protas, an attorney with the intellectual property law firm of Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP, announces the establishment of a Patent Law Scholarship specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender law students intending to pursue a legal career in the field of patent law. Candidates must be second-year students for the 2010-2011 academic year at an American Bar Association-accredited law school, and be eligible to sit for the Patent Bar Exam. Asian American Bar Association for the Greater Chicago Area Law Foundation Scholarship

Application Deadline: June 30, 2010 DEADLINE EXTENDED

The board members of the Asian American Bar Association for the Greater Chicago Area Law Foundation (“AABA Law Foundation”) and members of its scholarship committee, announce the AABA Law Foundation's scholarship program.  The AABA Law Foundation was established in February 2009, and is a non-profit, charitable and educational affiliate of Asian American Bar Association ("AABA") that is tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). 

One of the goals of the AABA Law Foundation is to provide financial assistance to Asian Pacific American law students who have demonstrated academic excellence and social leadership.  Starting this year, the AABA Law Foundation will award annual scholarships to law students who have demonstrated a commitment to serving the needs of the Chicago-area Asian Pacific American community, and who will continue to serve the needs of the Chicago-area Asian Pacific American communities through pro bono, public interest, and/or public service legal work in the future.  This year, the AABA Law Foundation intends to award two Inaugural Scholarships of $2,500 each to law students who have exemplified that commitment. Interested students can pick up the scholarship application in the Office of Admissions, Suite 230.

 

The My Recipe - My Heritage Scholarship Essay Contest

Application Deadline: Open

My Recipe – My Heritage Scholarship Essay Contest - $4,500 worth of prizes will be awarded.  Both US citizens and foreign students currently attending a US college, university, or another institution of higher education are eligible to participate.  The essay should explore the place culinary traditions hold in one’s cultural/ethnic identity.  For more information and submission guidelines, visit

My Recipe – My Heritage Scholarship Essay Contest

The scholarship essay contest aims at exploring the place culinary traditions hold in one’s cultural/ethnic identity.  We hope that the scholarship will serve to increase the awareness of culinary history as a vital aspect of cultural studies and a means of preserving and perpetuating ethnic traditions and values.  FastRecipes.com is a non-commercial online culinary arts journal.

 

The Darleen J. and Robert L. Walker Scholarship Fund

Application Deadline: June 25 , 2010

The Darleen J. and Robert L. Walker Scholarship Fund is accepting applications for the upcoming academic year. Information and instructions for applying may be obtained on our Web site: www.walkerscholarship.org.

Preference will be given to a son or daughter of a member of Masonic Lodge 1098 in Lombard, Illinois, or to former residents of the Masonic Children?s Home in La Grange, Illinois, and those who come from Masonic families.

Scholarships may be renewed each year upon verification of continued financial need and good standing at the law school.

The application deadline is June 25, 2010.

 

Polish Women's Civic Club, Inc. Scholarships

Application Deadline: July 1 , 2010

The Polish Women's Civic Club, Inc. is a philanthropic organization of American women of Polish descent interested in discovering the richness of their Polish heritage and sharing it with others. The Club supports educational activities and personal efforts of Polish American students, male and female, through financial scholarships. To qualify for consideration of a scholarship, a student must fulfill the following requirements: be a U.S. citizen; have at least one parent of Polish heritage; be a Chicago resident; currently enrolled full-time second or third year student attending Chicago area school; demonstrate financial need; and permanent resident of State of Illinois.
