Throughout the year, the Office of Admissions receives
notices of scholarships that are offered through external
organizations. Information about the scholarship awards
that are currently available is listed below. Award
notices are listed in the order in which they were received.
You may also find information on other outside scholarship

NEW! The Morton and Shirley Kessler Kessler Award
Application Deadline: October 26, 2012
Richard N. Kessler, `82, and his wife Lesley, established this award in honor of Rick’s parents, Morton and Shirley Kessler, who have instilled in them the importance of helping others. Morton and Shirley are role models by living their lives giving unconditional love for family, having deep faith and exhibiting a strong work ethic. The Morton and Shirley Kessler Award will be made to a continuing law student of good academic standing who has demonstrated significant need for financial assistance for law school expenses. This scholarship will be awarded in spring 2013. To apply for this $2500 scholarship, applicants should forward a letter of interest, financial statement, and current resume to the Office of Admissions, ATTN: Karla Davis, kdavis1@kentlaw.edu.
NEW! The Roddy Scholarship
Application Deadline: October 26, 2012
Joseph V. Roddy, a 1962 Chicago-Kent graduate, established this fund to provide financial assistance to evening division students currently working in law enforcement. Preference for this scholarhip is given to first year students and the award amounts range from $1,500 to $3,000. This scholarship will be awarded in spring 2013. To apply, applicants should forward a letter of interest and current resume to the Office of Admissions, ATTN: Karla Davis, kdavis1@kentlaw.edu.
Apply now for the College Prowler Chicago Student Scholarship

College Prowler has introduced a $1,000 Chicago Student Scholarship for Chicago area students. Since 2002, College Prowler has been a leading resource for assisting students in their college search as well as finding scholarships to help finance their education. With over $50,000 awarded annually in College Prowler scholarships, we could be a great, free resource for your students – especially with this new scholarship just for them.
To apply for the $1,000 Chicago Student Scholarship, students need to log in or register for a free account at CollegeProwler.com and answer why they think Chicago is a great city for students and young adults. Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship

Banner & Witcoff, Ltd. is pleased to offer the Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship for law students. This scholarship is part of Banner & Witcofis continuing commitment to fostering the development of intellectual property lawyers from diverse backgrounds.
The Donald W. Banner Diversity Scholarship is open to all students currently enrolled in an American Bar Association accredited law school and pursuing a career in intellectual property law. The applicant must be a member of a historically under represented group (including race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and disability) and must have exemplary Writing and oral communication skills. To apply, submit the scholarship application by January 7, 2013.
McLean County Bar Association Scholarship

The McLean County Bar Association (MCBA) is announcing a $1,000 scholarship for eligible second or third year law school students with strong ties to McLean County, Illinois. To be considered, scholarship applications should be received electronically
by October 20, 2012, and the recipient will be selected on or before November 20, 2012. A formal presentation will be made December 18, 2012 at the Bar Association’s annual holiday luncheon. Applicants for the MCBA law school scholarship should demonstrate a commitment to McLean County, Bloomington-Normal and/or its surrounding communities through residency in the county, through academic ties to local schools or through past or future employment. Fredrikson & Byron Foundation Minority Scholarship

The Fredrikson & Byron Foundation announces its 2012 scholarship opportunity for an exceptional first-year minority law school student. This is the 20th year of the firm’s minority scholarship program, which awarded $10,000 to this year's recipient, Chrishon A. McManus.
The scholarship program is part of the Fredrikson & Byron Foundation’s commitment to promoting diversity amongst incoming law professionals. The purpose of the program is to encourage them to join and excel in the private practice of law within larger corporate law firms in the Upper Midwest. The scholarship is awarded based on law school performance, professional references, work and other activities, writing samples, and personal interviews. Serbian Bar Association of America Law Scholarship
Application deadline: October 15, 2012
The SBAA is an organization of Serbian American attorneys, judges, paralegals and law students that has been in existence for nearly twenty years. The SBAA represents a valuable asset to Serbian American law students by offering them the opportunity to network with the greater Serbian American legal community and affording them career placement opportunities.
The SBAA is hosting a scholarship gala on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the Park Ridge Country Club in Park Ridge, Illinois. Five scholarships will be awarded; one in the amount of $2,500, two in the amount of $2,000, one in the amount of $1,000 and one in the amount of $500.
All persons of Serbian birth, ancestry, or connubial relationship who are enrolled in an accredited law school in any state of the United States of America are eligible to apply for the scholarships. The deadline for receipt of applications is October 15, 2012.
Scholarship recipients will be notified in advance, and the scholarships will be awarded at the scholarship gala on November 17, 2012. Applications are available online at: www.serbbar.org.
