Chicago-Kent College of Law
Learning By Doing
Open House
Saturday, November 15, 2008
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
It is not enough to know the theory of law. One must also master
the practice of law. That is why Chicago-Kent students have extraordinary
opportunities to gain experience in settings where theory and practice
intersect. Students work for clinical professors who are attorneys
of record for death penalty cases, employment discrimination matters,
racketeering offenses, and complex civil litigation. They also serve
externships with the federal judiciary, private law firms, corporations
and public sector employers. Additionally, students receive practical
legal training in courses in trial advocacy and through a certificate
program in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution.
A panel of students will discuss the extraordinary opportunities
they have at Chicago-Kent to gain experience in settings where theory
and practice intersect. As you will hear, this experience can take
many different forms and is an invaluable part of the legal education
we provide. "Learning by Doing" prepares our students
for the demands of their professional careers.
Faculty, students and staff will be available to meet with you
during the opening reception. Tours of the law school will be available
following the panel discussion.
