Chicago-Kent College of Law established the Center for Access to Justice & Technology (CAJT) to make justice more accessible to the public by promoting the use of the Internet in the teaching, practice, and public access to the law.

CAJT Open House - Thursday, September 14th, 2006

The Center will host an open house this Thursday, September 14th at noon in Room 370. Learn how to get involved with the Self-Help Web Center at the Daley Center and A2J Author Student Editorial Board at this event. Information regarding the Public Interest Certificate Program will be available as well. Food and refreshments will be provided.

A2J Author Student Editorial Board (A2J-SEB)

The A2J Student Editorial Board has available positions for the Fall 2006 semester. Interested applicants should submit their resume for consideration to a2jseb@kentlaw.edu no later than September 15, 2006.

Public Interest Certificate Program

  • Chicago-Kent's new Public Interest Certificate Program is currently accepting letters of intent for the certificate program. The Certificate requires 12 credit hours for completion, including Public Interest Law and Policy and the public interest section of Legal Writing IV. Letter of intent forms are available here.

Self-Help Web Center (SHWC)

Employment Opportunity: SHWC is currently seeking a to fill a paid, part time position as a Student Guide. This student will work six to ten hours per week at the Daley Center Courthouse helping pro se litigants and courthouse visitors access legal information from an internet-enabled computer workstation. The paid Student Guide will also help the Web Center Supervisor create written materials for court staff and judges and also assist in training new volunteers. The Daley Center hours of operation are from 8:30am - 4:30pm and all shifts would fall within those time. Interested students should submit resumes to cajt@kentlaw.edu.

Volunteer Opportunity: SHWC is also currently seeking volunteer web facilitators for the Self-Help Web Desk at the Daley Center. Volunteers at the web desk gain real-world experience by helping self-represented and under-represented litigants access legal information through the internet.
