justice more accessible to the public by promoting the use
of the Internet in the teaching, practice, and public access
to the law.
SHWC & ILAO LiveHelp
Training & Pizza
Tuesday, September 21st at 12noon in Room C35
The Self-Help Web Center (SHWC) is having a new volunteer training & pizza session. Please join us if you are interested in working at the SHWC in
the Cook County Clerk's Office for the Civil Division at
the Daley Center or for Illinois Legal Aid Online's LiveHelp service this semester. This training is required for all new SHWC volunteers.
CAJT Internship Opportunity
Application Deadline: open until filled.
The Center for Access to Justice & Technology is accepting applications for an internship position. The CAJT intern will work 10-15 hours per week on a variety of exciting community service projects. Among other duties the CAJT intern will:
- Support the work of CAJT as it provides assistance to the community that uses the A2J Author software to turn court forms into guided interviews for pro se users.
- Contribute to the update of CAJT websites dedicated to access to justice for low-income, self-represented people.
- Support the Student Editorial Board and Self-Help Web Center organizations.
Compensation: Work-Study ($10/hour) for eligible students.

Volunteer this fall
at the Self-Help Web Center in the Daley Center
Are you interested in directly interacting with people in need of legal assistance? Do you have two hours a week this semester to gain invaluable legal experience?
The Center for Access to Justice & Technology is seeking volunteers to donate
a minimum of two hours of time per week at the Self-Help Web Center (SHWC) in
the Cook County Clerk's Office for the Civil Division at
the Daley Center. The SHWC is staffed by Chicago-Kent
student volunteers who assist pro se litigants complete
online interviews resulting in completely assembled court
documents. Volunteers also assist litigants navigate the
Daley Center and available public interest legal services
around Chicago. Volunteering at the SHWC is
a great way to learn about the Daley Center and the small
claims legal process, and to get some experience interacting
with people in need of legal help.
Please note: Students with federal work study awards may be compensated for this position if working a minimum of 5 hours per week.

Volunteer with the
A2J Student Editorial Board
The A2J Student Editorial Board (SEB) is looking for students to volunteer, earn work-study money, or obtain independent study credit for creating interviews used by pro-se litigants nationwide to assemble court documents. The SEB provides students the opportunity to refine their research and writing skills, learn new technologies employed by law firms and legal aid organizations to streamline and simplify the completion of court forms and to create a guided interview for use by the pro-se community.

Chicago-Kent's Public
Interest Certificate Program
is currently accepting Letters of Intent. The J.D. Certificate in Public Interest Law requires:
- Curriculum Planning Meeting
- Public Interest Career Planning Meeting
- Public Interest Law and Policy (3 credits)
- Legal Writing IV - Public Interest (3 credits)
- 6 additional credit hours of public interest related coursework including a public interest clinic, public interest internship or public interest seminar
- Completion of the Dean's Certificate of Service (50 hours of community service)
The Letter of Intent form is available on the Certificate in Public Interest Law section of the Chicago-Kent website and in the CAJT office in room 775.
