Windows XP support to end April 8, 2014

Microsoft will be ending support for its Windows XP operating system on April 8, 2014. Microsoft will not be releasing security updates or support patches after this time which leaves your computer vulnerable to attacks. These attacks could compromise your personal password, cause a loss of data, identity left, etc. The CLC recommends that you upgrade your Windows XP computer to either Windows 7 or Windows 8 if you can or replace your computer with one with a later operating system. Please contact the Help Desk with any questions or concerns.

Security Updates and Spam

Security updates
The web world has increasingly become a target for malicious malware and viruses. Open vulnerabilities in operating systems and browsers are just two of the many ways computing devices come under attack. Please perform critical Microsoft or Apple software updates. Also, keep your Anti-virus software up-to-date. Periodically run scans to check for viruses and malware to protect your system from any harm.

Spam
CLC will never ask for confidential information such as usernames and passwords via email. Please do not click or respond to any such emails as these typically are embedded with viruses.

When in doubt please contact the Help desk immediately!

IIT Print Channel is for MC printing only and not for use at the DTC

Please note that student printing at Chicago-Kent is separate from the process used on Main Campus - you should not use the IIT Printing Channel in the my.iit.edu portal. If you have used the channel to add money for printing, please contact the Main Campus Help Desk at supportdesk@iit.edu for a refund.

At Chicago-Kent, students receive credit for $28 worth of free printing per semester which is equivalent to 400 pages of black and white printing at $0.07 per side; any printing beyond 400 pages is charged at a rate of $0.07 per side for black and white and $.15 per side for color.

All Chicago-Kent printing – both free and charged – is managed by the Law School’s own printing system. You can add money to your account at the station located in the 9th floor photocopy room in the Library.
