Phishing Emails
Phishing emails are attempts to gather personal information
by masquerading as another entity such as the Help Desk. Members
of the Chicago-Kent community have received emails appearing to be
from the IT department asking users for their passwords, to validate
their Chicago-Kent Gmail account, etc. which are phishing attempts.
Please do not respond to any such phishing attempts. You can mark
these messages as spam and then forward them to the Help Desk so we
are aware. Visit our
Best Practices page for more information.

Mac Yosemite 10.10 Wireless Issues
Some users have had difficulty accessing the Chicago-Kent wireless
network on Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. This is due to a bug in Apple's
OS X Yosemite that affects the type of wireless authentication used
at Chicago-Kent, the Main Campus and other institutions. Apple has
released a software update in order to alleviate this problem.
Another software update from Apple regarding wireless issues is still
pending.
The software update released by Apple is 10.10.2 which resolves an
issue that may cause Wi-Fi to disconnect and web pages to render slowly.
To install the software update on your Mac click the App Store and
then click updates and install the 10.10.2 software update. Apple is
aware that there are still issues with devices bouncing between
frequencies on wireless access points, which results in dropped
connections and poor performance. Apple has not provided an update to
resolve this issue as yet.

Security Updates and Spam
Security updates
The web world has increasingly become a target for malicious malware
and viruses. Open vulnerabilities in operating systems and browsers
are just two of the many ways computing devices come under
attack. Please perform critical Microsoft or Apple software
updates. Also, keep your Anti-virus software up-to-date.
Periodically run scans to check for viruses and malware to
protect your system from any harm.
Spam
ITS will never ask for confidential information
such as usernames and passwords via email. Please do not
click or respond to any such emails as these typically
are embedded with viruses.
When in doubt please contact the Help desk immediately!

IIT Print Channel is for MC printing only and not for use at
the DTC
Please note that student printing at Chicago-Kent is separate
from the process used on Main Campus - you should not use the
IIT Printing Channel in the my.iit.edu portal. If you have used
the channel to add money for printing, please contact the
Main Campus Help Desk at supportdesk@iit.edu for a refund.
At Chicago-Kent, students receive credit for $28 worth of
free printing per semester which is equivalent to 400 pages
of black and white printing at $0.07 per side; any printing
beyond 400 pages is charged at a rate of $0.07 per side for
black and white and $.15 per side for color.
All Chicago-Kent printing – both free and charged – is
managed by the Law School’s own printing system. You can
add money to your account at the station located in the 9th
floor photocopy room in the Library.
