Study Abroad Information Session. The Office of International Law and Policy will host a study abroad information session on Tuesday, February 25, at 12:00 noon in Rm. 345. Pizza will be served.
In addition to the many study abroad options typically offered, Chicago-Kent's partner school, Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL), in Chongqing, China is offering a special two-week summer program for our students in which accommodations, organized activities, and meal allowances will be provided. This program is not for course credit, and the content will include some limited instruction on the Chinese legal system, and China's economy, culture, and society. Even though the program is not for credit, it provides a great opportunity for our students to explore China at a very reasonable price. Contact Dean Edward Harris at eharris@kentlaw.iit.edu for more information. Please note that the application for this program is due by March 1, 2014.
Academic Resource Library. The Office of Student Services maintains a resource library of study aids and other materials for first year classes and for many upper-level classes. Students can borrow materials for a three-day period. This is a great way to preview a study aid before you buy it or do a quick review for a class. If you are interested in borrowing a book or flashcards, please see Jenna Abhijeet in Room 310A.Click here for a list of Subject areas and Book titles.
Bar Preparation Class. Through the generosity of Prof. Conviser and BAR-BRI, we are offering a no-credit, free class this Spring that will provide an early opportunity to begin preparing for the bar exam. The class will meet six times during the semester on Thursdays 4:00-5:50 pm, beginning on Thursday, February 27, in Rm. 210. The class is geared toward general bar preparation (not just Illinois), and it is open to both J.D. and LL.M. students graduating in May who plan to take a bar exam this summer or next winter. The class will be taught by alum, Stephanie Goetz of BAR-BRI. If you are interested in signing up for the class, please email Stephanie at barprepclass@gmail.com. In your email, include the state bar exam you are planning to sit for (if not Illinois) and what your concerns are regarding studying for the bar exam.
Joke of the week. Why did Karl Marx dislike Earl Grey tea? Because all proper tea is theft.
