Policy on Sexual Misconduct and Code of Conduct Revisions. Pursuant to changes in the federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), the university has revised its Policy on Sexual Harassment and Sexual Misconduct. The VAWA amendments also require certain changes to the Law School's Code of Conduct. Specifically, the VAWA requires that schools prohibit certain specified categories of sexual misconduct; provide definitions of those offenses, and the definition of consent, consistent with applicable provisions of federal and state law; and institute certain procedural protections for alleged victims of sexual misconduct. The revised university Policy is available by clicking here. The revised Code of Conduct provisions are available by clicking here.

Although these revisions are required by federal law, a faculty committee will be considering possible refinements to the specific language. Any student with comments should email me ( and I will provide those comments to the committee for consideration. (Please note that the Code retains the existing requirement that its terms apply only to conduct that affects or threatens another member of the IIT community, or occurs on IIT premises or at an event sponsored by IIT or a student organization.)

Academic Resource Library. The Office of Student Services maintains a resource library of study aids and other materials for first year classes and for many upper-level classes. Students can borrow materials for a three-day period. This is a great way to preview a study aid before you buy it or do a quick review for a class. If you are interested in borrowing a book or flashcards, please see Jenna Abhijeet in Room 310A. Click here for a list of Subject areas and Book titles.

Security Reminder: Watch Your Valuables! We would like to remind all faculty, staff, and students to guard your valuables to avoid the risk of theft. Please do not leave your possessions unattended in the Library or any other part of the building, even for a short time -- it only takes a second for a thief to grab and run. In particular, thefts of cell phones have increased nationwide, including a recent incident here at Chicago-Kent.

Joke of the week. Two atoms are walking down the street. One says to the other, “I think I just lost an electron.” “Are you sure?” “I’m positive.”
