Jump Start Bar Preparation Programs for Graduating Students. [Message from Dean Krent and Asst. Dean Sowle:] As you may know, in the last couple years the passing percentage on the Illinois bar has been going down (as it has in many states). And now the Illinois bar examiners have announced plans to increase the required score to pass the bar exam beginning this summer. Although we are pleased that our graduates have performed well on the bar exam in recent years, we want to make sure this trend continues and that you, too, are successful.
To that end, we are offering graduating J.D. and LL.M. students the following jump start bar preparation opportunities free of charge, made possible by the generosity of BARBRI: (1) A bar preparation course (no-credit) that will meet six times over the course of the semester, starting on March 4; and (2) two Sunday bar preparation workshops further enhancing the skills you need for the three distinctly different parts of the bar exam. Details about these programs are available by clicking here.
We encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities whether you plan on taking the bar in Illinois or in another state. Please note that these programs are intended to help give you a jump-start on bar preparation, not as a replacement for a full-fledged bar review course, which we strongly encourage you to register for now, if you have not already done so. Additionally, by attending the weekend workshops and/or the preparation course you will receive a Conviser Grant of $100 towards your BARBRI Bar Review Course ($200 if you attend both).
If you are interested in signing up for the workshops and/or the bar preparation course, please do so by clicking here. The deadline for signing up is Tuesday, February 24.
Finally, we encourage you to minimize work or other commitments during the period in which you are studying for the bar exam after graduation.
Joke of the week. How much did the pirate pay to get his ears pierced? A buccaneer.
