SECOND-YEAR STUDENTS (2000 Entrants)
Advanced Research and Legal Drafting
Second-year Day Division students must register for either
Advanced Research or Legal Drafting - whichever course you are not taking
in the current Fall semester. (Please note: You are not permitted
to take both Advanced Research and Legal Drafting in the same semester.)
Alternatively,
you may take a combined 3-credit Legal Drafting/Research section, which
will satisfy your second-year writing requirement. If you have already
taken Advanced Research or Legal Drafting, you are permitted
to take a combined section in satisfaction of the other course requirement.
Enrollment in each section is limited to 15 students. If you are not admitted
into the section you choose during the initial registration period, register
for another section during the add/drop period. Students in the Labor
and Employment Law Certificate Program should register for one
of the sections of the special combined course listed below and on the
Evening Division schedule. Students in the Litigation and Alternative
Dispute Resolution Program (LADR) are exempt from Advanced Research
and Legal Drafting. The Advanced Research requirement (but not the Legal
Drafting requirement) is waived for students who complete two semesters
of Law Review or who take Appellate Advocacy
as part of the Moot Court program.

SECOND-YEAR & THIRD-YEAR STUDENTS (1999
and 2000 Entrants)
Advanced Research and Legal Drafting
Evening Division students must complete the Advanced
Research and Legal Drafting courses no later than the end of their third
year. (Please note: You are not permitted to take both Advanced
Research and Legal Drafting in the same semester.) Alternatively,
you may take a combined 3-credit Legal Drafting/Research section, which
will satisfy this writing requirement. If you have already taken Advanced
Research or Legal Drafting, you are permitted to take a combined
section in satisfaction of the other course requirement. Enrollment in
each section is limited to 15 students. If you are not admitted into the
section you choose during the initial registration period, register for
another section during the add/drop period. Students in the Labor
and Employment Law Certificate Program should register for one
of the sections of the special combined course listed below and on the
Day Division schedule.

TRIAL ADVOCACY
Most Trial Advocacy sections will meet in the Daley Civic
Center; some will meet in the Law School courtroom. For both Trial Advocacy 1
and 2, there are several sections in each time slot. Your section and
instructor will be assigned by the Registrar. In addition to the basic
Trial Advocacy 1 and 2 courses, we are also offering a special Litigation
Technology course in the Spring that will focus on integrating
technology into trial practice, and an Intellectual Property Trial
Advocacy course. See the Day and Evening Division Elective Course
listings for these two courses.
