Credit hour limit: You may register for
a maximum of six credit hours in the summer session; there is no minimum.
The six credit maximum applies whether you are attending Chicago-Kent or
another law school, either here or abroad. To receive private financial
aid loans, however, you must take at least three hours; to receive federal
loans, you must take at least six hours. Students who register for
four hours of clinical courses may seek permission to take a total of seven
hours by submitting a request form to Prof. Gary Laser; the forms are available
in Suite 600.
Courses Not Eligible for Pass/Fail Election:
Environmental Law Clinic, Legal Drafting, Professional Responsibility,
and Trial Advocacy.

CLINICAL EDUCATION COURSES
Permission is required for
admission to all clinical programs. All clinical programs are graded on
a pass/low pass/fail basis only. Students are expected to put in a minimum
of 224 hours (an average of 32 hours a week for 7 weeks) for 4 hours of
credit, a minimum of 168 hours (an average of 24 hours a week for 7 weeks)
for 3 hours of credit, and a minimum of 112 hours (an average of 16 hours
a week for 7 weeks) for 2 hours of credit. Students must be available at
the days and times designated below to meet with supervising attorneys
and at other times as required by the supervising attorneys.
