Sponsor/Title: AIPLA (American Intellectual Property Law Association) Quarterly Journal.
Topic: To be announced.
Prizes:  The competition is used to select student members of the AIPLA Quarterly Journal; no monetary prizes are awarded.
Deadline:  Students wishing to compete must submit a Request to Compete form no later than Friday, March 14, 2003. Competition packets will then be mailed on Friday, March 21, and must be returned no later than the following Monday.

Sponsor/Title: ABA Commission on Law and Aging, Law and Aging Student Essay Contest.
Topic: Submissions should address any public policy or practice issue in serving socially, economically, or physically vulnerable older persons.
Prizes:  First place, $5,000; second place, $3,000; third place, $1,000.
Deadline:  Submissions must be received by April 1, 2003.


Sponsor/Title: International Association of Defense Counsel 2003 Legal Writing Contest.
Topic: Any subject of practical concern to lawyers engaged in the defense or management of the defense of civil litigation, such as, for examples, relevant aspects of tort law, insurance law, civil procedure, evidence, damages, alternative dispute resolution procedures, and professional ethics.
Prizes:  First place, $2,000; second place, $1,000; third place, $500.
Deadline:  Submissions must be postmarked on or before April 16, 2003.


Sponsor/Title: Judge John R. Brown Scholarship Foundation, Brown Award for Excellence in Legal Writing.
Topic: Any topic on a legal subject.
Prizes:  First place, $7,500.
Deadline:  Submissions must be postmarked no later than April 25, 2003.


Sponsor/Title: NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund 2002-2003 Law Student Essay Contest.
Topic: The subject of the contest is "the right of the individual to keep and bear arms as a federally protected right."
Prizes:  First place, $5,000; second place, $3,000; third place, $2,000; fourth place, $1,000.
Deadline:  Submissions must be postmarked or delivered on or before April 30, 2003.

Sponsor/Title: ABA Section of Dispute Resolution, James Boskey Dispute Resolution Essay Competition.
Topic: Dispute resolution.
Prizes:  First place, $1,000.
Deadline:  Submissions must be made no later than May 30, 2003.


Sponsor/Title: NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund Scholarship Contest for Third-Year Law Students.
Topic: The constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
Prizes:  First place, $12,500 toward tuition; second place, $5,000; third place, $2,500.
Deadline:  Submissions must be received on or before July 1, 2003.

Sponsor/Title: American Intellectual Property Association, Robert C. Watson Competition.
Topic: A subject relating to the protection of intellectual property.
Prizes:  First place, $2,000.
Deadline:  Entries must be submitted on or before July 31, 2003.
