*Congratulations to Laura Homan (class of 2013) for being selected as a Fall 2012 winnter of the National Law Review Law Student Writing Contest.
*Congratulations to Anne Marfisi (class of 2013) for winning first place in the 2011 SmithAmundsen Excellence in Legal Writing Award.
*Congratulations to Mariah Shaver (class of 2012) for winning second place in the American Judges Association's 2012 Law Student Essay Competition.


Sponsor/Title: Transnational Law & Contemporary Problems Journal/Trandafir International Business Writing Competition.
Topic: Any topic of contemporary international business or economic concern with a legal nexus.
Prizes: First place, $2,000 and publication.
Deadline: March 1, 2013.


Sponsor/Title: John Marshall Law School Center for Tax Law and Employee Benefits/Paul Faherty Tax Law Writing Competition.
Topic: Any aspect of tax law.
Prizes: First place, $3,000; two honorable mentions, $1,000 each.
Deadline: March 31, 2013.


Sponsor/Title: ABA Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section Annual Law Student Writing Competition.
Topic: Any part of the New Deal, a series of economic programs implemented in 1933-1936, passed by Congress during the first term of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Prizes: First place, $1,500 and possible publication in the ABA Tort Trial & Insurance Law Jounral; second place, $500 and honorable mention in the Section magazine; third place, honorable mention in the Section magazine.
Deadline: April 1, 2013.


Sponsor/Title: Environmental Law Institute/Constitutional Environmental Law Student Writing Competition.
Topic: Any topic addressing recent developments or trends in U.S. environmental law that have a significant constitutional or "federalism" component.
Prizes: First place, $2,000 and offer of publication in the Environmental Law Reporter.
Deadline: April 12, 2013.

Topic: A question of significance in either city planning or associated areas of law (e.g., land use, local government or environmental law).
