*Congratulations to Anne Marfisi (class of 2013) for winning first place in the 2011 SmithAmundsen Excellence in Legal Writing Award.


Sponsor/Title: American Indian Law Review Writing Competition.
Topic: Any issue concerning American Indian law or indigenous peoples. However, topics recently published in the American Indian Law Review will not be favored.
Prizes: First place, $1,000 and publication of the article; second place, $500; third place, $250.

Sponsor/Title: IT-Lex Technology Law Writing Contest.
Topic: Any technoogy law topic.
Prizes: First place, $6,000; second place, $2,000; third place, $1,000.

Sponsor/Title: American College of Employee Benefits Counsel/Employee Benefits Writing Competition.
Topic: Any topic in the field of employee benefits law.
Prizes: Two $1,500 awards.

Sponsor/Title: The Theodore Tannenwald, Jr. Foundation for Excellence in Tax Scholarship Writing Competition.
Topic: Submissions must focus primarily upon technical or policy-oriented tax issues relating to any type of existing or proposed U.S. federal or state tax or U.S. federal or state taxation system(including topics relating to tax practice ethical and professional responsibilities).
Prizes: First place, $5,000; first runner-up, $2,500; second runner-up, $1,500.
