Chicago Police Department -- Community Alert

Downtown Campus General Safety Tips

Do not travel alone in public areas, or stand alone at the bus stop, or corner.  Keep alert for person(s) following you.  Be wary of strangers offering assistance.  Don't openly wear or display jewelry, handbags or clothing.  The Downtown Campus of IIT provides year-round security officer escorts after 5:00 PM weekdays and on weekends.  For the month of May an additional officer has been added to facilitate the need for escorts because of this situation.  During this month, escort service has been extended to the CTA el station (approx. 4.5 blocks) as well as Ogilvie (Northwestern), and Union Stations.  Please see the security officer in the lobby for assistance and information.


Kennedy Expressway--Monroe Street Ramp Test Closure--May 3

The Illinois Department of Transportaton (IDOT) and the City of Chicago announced it will temporarily close the Monroe Street exit ramp from the Eisenhower/Congress/
northbound Dan Ryan (Interstate-90/94).  This closure is part of a study to assess the effectiveness of a possible closure of this ramp.  The ramp will be closed from 5 AM on Monday, May 3rd until 7 PM on Friday, June 25th.  Please use Madison Street, Washington Boulevard or Randolph Street ramps to exit the expressway.

Third Parking Lot for Downtown Campus

Effective March 1, 1999, Presidential Towers is offering their ROOF TOP PARKING space to members of the Downtown Campus community.  Please follow this link to instructions if you wish to park at Presidential Towers.  Students may purchase the Spring 1999 parking sticker in the Bookstore on the Concourse Level.

Building Hours During Spring Exams

Beginning Friday, May 7th through Saturday May 22, 1999:

Sunday                                    9:45 AM until 11:15 PM
Monday - Thursday                7:15 AM until 11:15 PM
Friday                                      7:15 AM until  11:00 PM
Saturday                                  7:30 AM until  10:15 PM

Office Hours

The Office of Administration office hours are: 

            Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM.

Reserving a Room at the Downtown Campus

Faculty, staff, students and student organizations can reserve rooms at the Downtown Campus for meetings, study, speaker events, etc.  Please pickup and complete a room reservation form in the the Office of Administration, Room 265.  A memo will be sent to you confirming your reservation within 24 hours.

Student Employment for the Spring Term

Shuttle Bus Schedule

IIT operates a shuttle bus service between the main and downtown campuses with other designated stops in between.  Please stop by the lobby front desk to pick up a copy of this schedule or jump to the IIT Shuttle Bus Schedule web site.
