A Message from Public Safety

A Kent College Law professor was knocked to the ground and injured Tuesday night at the corner of Jefferson and Jackson near the Downtown Campus. The unidentified offender got into an auto and left the scene of the incident. There was no apparent motive for the attack, and no attempt at theft nor demand for valuables was made.  The professor was taken to a hospital for treatment of a broken elbow.

As a follow-up to an earlier report, District 001 Tactical Units and Area 4 Detectives investigating the April 19th robbery of two Kent Law students at Wacker and Adams East of the Downtown Campus have arrested three individuals they believe to be responsible for as many as a dozen street robberies during this same time period in the Loop.  Detectives discerned a criminal pattern from the occurrences, and set up a tactical surveillance leading to a vehicular pursuit ending with  the arrests on the near South Side.

Students are still urged to be alert and aware of their surroundings as they travel in the city, to try  to walk with other students, and to take advantage of campus shuttles and Public Safety escorts.

Student Employment for the Fall Term

A new payroll authorization must be completed by all student employees who will continue to work after August 21, 1999 (note: the "Fall Term", for payroll purposes, begins on August 22, 1999). The payroll authorization should be filled out completely listing August 22, 1999 or after (if the student's official start date is after 8/22) as the "Effective Date" of employment. The faculty member or administrator should fill in the account number, sign the payroll authorization in the "Department Head" section and have the student submit the form to the Office of Administration, Room 265.

A Payroll Authorization form and other required forms for student employment are available in the Office of Administration, Room 265.  Click here to review the IIT Student Payroll Schedule.

Discounted Parking Rates for Students

Discounted parking rates (see link for list of lots and rates) are available to students that display a Chicago-Kent parking sticker in the upper left-hand corner of their windshield. Stickers for the fall semester (blue sticker) are available in the Bookstore (councourse level) for $15.
