Student Employment for the Summer Term

A new payroll authorization must be completed by all student employees who work after May 24, 2003 (note: the "Summer Term" will be from May 25 through August 17, 2002). Payroll authorizations are available in the OFFICE OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE, SUITE 265.

The payroll authorization should be filled out completely listing May 25, 2003 or after as the "Effective Date" of employment. The faculty member or administrator should sign the payroll authorization in the "Department Head" section and the completed form should be submitted to the Office of Administration and Finance, Suite 265, for processing.

Below lists the criteria for student workers to qualify for "student status" for the summer term:

STUDENT STATUS (use sub-account "1271")

In order for a student to qualify for "student status" under IRS regulations (i.e., exempt from FICA tax), the student must be registered for at least six (6) credit hours during the summer term.

NON STUDENT STATUS (use sub-account "1239")

If a student employee is not registered for at least six credit hours, they are considered a part-time temporary employee. FICA taxes will be taken out of his/her paycheck and the employer FICA match will be charged to your account (the FICA rate is currently 7.65%).

550 WEST JACKSON ONLY

InterParking has reduced the discounted parking rate to $6.00 for DTC students at 550 West Jackson, behind the DTC on Quincy Street. (See below for terms and conditions)

The rate remains the same at InterParking's 550 W. Monroe location, with entry either on Monroe between Clinton and Canal or entry on Canal, just north of Monroe. Presidential Towers is still offering discounted parking for members of the DTC community for the Spring term.

Students who wish to take advantage of the discounts may pick-up the new parking sticker for the Spring/Summer semester from FOLLETT'S BOOKSTORE, C60.

FACULTY AND STAFF who wish to take advantage of the discounts may pick-up the new parking sticker for the Spring/Summer semester from Theda Mickey, Administration and Finance Department, Suite 265.

Downtown Campus General Safety Tips

Do not travel alone in public areas, or stand alone at the bus stop, or corner. Keep alert for person(s) following you. Be wary of strangers offering assistance. Don't openly wear or display jewelry or handbags. The Downtown Campus of IIT provides year-round security officer escorts after 5:00 PM weekdays and on weekends.

The Office of Administration and Finance regular office hours are: 

Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM.

Reserving a Room at the Downtown Campus

Faculty, staff, students and student organizations can reserve rooms at the Downtown Campus for meetings, study, speaker events, etc. An electronic form is available online. An email will be sent to you confirming your reservation within 24 business hours.
