Alumni Board of Directors - Committees
Committees are comprised exclusively of Chicago-Kent alumni;
Board membership is not required.
Executive Committee Chair: John Locallo ‘86
This committee sets the overall strategy for the Alumni Board
of Directors. This group provides direction and feedback, ensures
good governance of the Board, and oversees the work of the committees.
Scholarship Committee Chair: Dan Kirschner ‘98
The purpose of the Scholarship Committee is to oversee all activities and fundraising associated with the Alumni Board of Directors Scholarship, awarded to continuing students who demonstrate financial need and academic merit. This committee will select the scholarship recipients and meet with those recipients to build relationships with those students.
Programming Committee Co-Chairs: Tarek Fadel ’03 & Paul Miller ’00
The Programming Committee’s role is to create and help implement all Board programs and events. Events can vary from year to year, but programs in the past have included the Take a Break speaker series, the Alumni Awards Luncheon and golf outings.
Student Relations Committee Co-Chairs: Tarek Fadel ’03 & Paul Miller ‘00
The purpose of the Student Relations Committee is to enhance the educational experience of the student body through increased alumni participation in student activities and through offering more opportunities for alumni and student interaction. Opportunities include mentoring programs, the Take a Break speaker series and serving as an advisor to a student organization.
Nominating and Board Development Committee Chair: Bob Surrette ‘97
The Nominating and Board Development Committee’s role is to review nominations for members of the Alumni Board. The Committee will present a slate of new members to the general Board of Directors at the last meeting of the year for elections.
Awards Committee Chair: John Locallo ‘86
The Awards Committee’s role is to review and select deserving members of the Alumni population to receive the Chicago-Kent Alumni Awards for service to the college, professional achievement, outstanding achievement by a young alumnus (10 years or less), and for public service. The committee shall determine the criteria for any award given by the committee in consultation with representatives of the College.
Ad Hoc Committees
An advisory group of alumni to advise on marketing strategies and how to communicate with alumni on events, services and information on the law school.
A committee to develop ideas on the best way to engage and outreach to alumni who have never been involved with the school, as well as develop ways to engage alumni with some interest.
A committee that gathers thoughts, ideas or concerns affecting the general alumni population to bring to the law school.
A committee for young alumni of Chicago-Kent to engage in networking opportunities and reach out to the younger alumni population.
