ALUMNI PROFILE
Bruce M. Kohen '79

Bruce M. Kohen, retired managing partner at Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen, Ltd., is not only a passionate, lifelong litigator, but also a champion for world-class advocacy skills training at Chicago-Kent.

Of the new high-tech practice courtroom, named in Bruce’s honor, he says, “there’s no question setting a realistic atmosphere is the best way for students to practice the art of advocacy. A courtroom like this instills the sense of decorum, the confidence, and the level of intensity successful lawyers possess.” Celebrate with Bruce at the alumni-wide celebration to dedicate our new courtroom..

From the Dean

Dean Harold J. Krent

From humble beginnings...
From humble beginnings in the chambers of Judge Thomas Moran and Judge Joseph Bailey, Chicago-Kent College of Law has expanded its influence and footprint exponentially. Throughout 2013, the law school will celebrate 125 Years of Distinctive Legal Education. Although we have achieved significant milestones throughout our proud history, I'm happy to share some of more recent successes.

This fall, we welcomed our third U.S. Supreme Court Justice in the past 13 months, renaming our Jury Center in honor of Justice John Paul Stevens. We also hosted the NITA Tournament of Champions, an opportunity to showcase our recently renovated Bruce M. Kohen Courtroom. Our faculty hosted a symposium on the role of the Supreme Court in shaping public opinion, featuring Judge Richard Posner of the Seventh Circuit and Linda Greenhouse of the New York Times. And of course, we celebrated another year of excellent bar passage results.

As we kick off the new year and our milestone commemorations, I invite alumni to get involved through some of our spring alumni recognition and volunteer programs.

To further Chicago-Kent's commitment to serving the public interest, please consider nominating a fellow alumnus/a or organization who demonstrates outstanding public service leadership for one of our 2013 Public Interest Awards.

If you'd like to influence the next generation of Chicago-Kent alumni, consider volunteering as an Alumni Ambassador, contacting admitted students to answer their questions about the law school as they consider their offer of admission.

Stay tuned for more opportunities to be involved and to join us as we celebrate 125 years.

Sincerely,

Harold J. Krent
Dean and Professor of Law
