A Toast to Student Advocacy Success As the semester winds down, we can look back to an amazing run for both our trial and appellate advocacy teams. We should all feel pride in their success. In addition to earning the 3rd spot in the nation in the recent US News & World Report rankings, the trial advocacy program won the 2012 National Ethics Trial Competition, the regional tournament of the AAJ 2012 Student Trial Advocacy Competition, and advanced to the national finals of the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition. For its part, our moot court teams triumphed at the William E. McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition, at the National Cultural Heritage Law Moot Court Competition, and reached the final four at the National Moot Court Competition. On Tuesday, April 17, we invite alumni to join us for "Toasting a Stellar Season: Student Advocacy at Chicago-Kent," an informal reception honoring the achievements of all teams participating in the advocacy programs, along with their faculty, alumni and student coaches. The reception begins at 5:15 p.m., with a celebratory toast at 5:45 p.m., and will be held on the 10th floor of IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. RSVP to alums@kentlaw.edu or (312) 906-5240 by April 16. If you’d like to support these programs, consider giving to the Marovitz Courtroom renovation efforts. To learn more about this project, click here, and thanks again to our student advocacy programs for the positive recognition they bring to Chicago-Kent. Sincerely, Harold J. Krent Dean and Professor of Law |
