If you have not yet been admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, participate in the third Chicago-Kent alumni group swearing-in on Monday, May 23 in Washington, D.C. Up to 50 Chicago-Kent alumni will be presented in open court and heard by the Justices. After the swearing-in, stay for a continental breakfast at which Justices may join us (last year, Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Ginsburg welcomed our group). You will also have the opportunity for a lecture and tour of the Supreme Court. If you plan on applying, please submit the online information form immediately to reserve a spot. There are only 50 spots available, filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. More information is available at www.kentlaw.edu/supremecourt. The deadline to reserve a spot is February 28.
Help us recruit the best and brightest law students to Chicago-Kent by serving as an Alumni Ambassador. Beginning in February, Alumni Ambassadors contact admitted students who haven’t confirmed their attendance to Chicago-Kent in the fall. Ambassadors introduce the school through the eyes of an alumnus and answer any questions from potential students. Your experiences and memories can have a profound influence on a potential student! This interaction gives students a one-on-one experience to make informed decisions about law school. Contact with admitted students occurs during February through April 2011. Become an Ambassador by February 1. Learn more about the program!

Each year, the Alumni Association celebrates alumni who devote their careers to the public good and demonstrate outstanding public service leadership with The Honorable Abraham Lincoln Marovitz ’25 Public Interest Law Award. The award is given in honor of our esteemed alumnus, Hon. Abraham Lincoln Marovitz ‘25, who served as a Senior Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois for almost 40 years. It includes a stipend intended to offset the cost of law school loan repayment for alumni who take lower-paid public interest positions. Please nominate a fellow alumnus or alumna who deserves this honor. Alumni working in the public interest sector who have graduated in the last 15 years are eligible. Nominations are accepted until Friday, February 4. The award will be presented at the 4th annual Public Interest Awards Night on Thursday, April 21.

It is that time of year when the Career Services Office (CSO) gathers statistics used for law school rankings in publications by U.S. News and World Report and the American Bar Association. We are looking to verify your contact information and employment status for our nine-month statistics (February 15 deadline) following your graduation. All information you provide will remain confidential; we never release or publish any information that identifies any individual graduate by name or discloses a particular graduate's home or employer information. Please respond to emails and calls from the CSO to verify your information, send an email to kentcso@kentlaw.edu or complete the online survey. Respond by January 10 for a chance to win an iPad!
Chicago-Kent is the new headquarters of the Oyez Project, a multimedia archive that aims to be a complete, searchable and authoritative source for all audio recorded in the Supreme Court of the United States since the installation of a recording system in 1955. The site's archive of digitized arguments is keyword searchable and offers snippets from case transcripts that link to the corresponding full audio. Founded and directed by political scientist Jerry Goldman, the site also provides written summaries of Supreme Court cases and holdings, detailed biographies and voting records of Supreme Court justices, links to written opinions, and a virtual tour of the Supreme Court building. The site will soon make its content more widely accessible to mobile users via apps for iPads and handheld devices. iPhone apps for selected content are already available. Chicago-Kent plans to utilize the research of its students and faculty in further content development, capitalizing on its faculty's broad-based scholarship on the U.S. Supreme Court, the justice system and the Constitution.
