Dean Harold J. Krent

Happy New Year from Chicago-Kent

As we begin this new year, I look forward to sharing with you the good news of what accomplishments and accolades 2014 will bring to Chicago-Kent. From new initiatives to create experiential learning opportunities to fostering a community environment on our campus, the support of the alumni community is critical to our success.

Each year dedicated members of our alumni community give their valuable time to help sustain Chicago-Kent’s unique legacy and propel us forward toward a bright future. These alumni serve on Councils and Advisory Boards, as guest lecturers, event speakers and career mentors. On behalf of the entire Chicago-Kent community, I would like to thank all of our 2013 alumni volunteers.

I encourage you to reconnect with Chicago-Kent in 2014. Attend an event sponsored by a Chicago-Kent student organization. Take advantage of the 2014 Alumni CLE Series beginning on January 16 and earn free MCLE credit. Volunteer for Alumni/Student ConneKtions Week or the Solo and Small Practice Incubator. The opportunities to get involved at Chicago-Kent are as unique and diverse as our alumni themselves. I hope you will become an active part of our success in 2014.

Best wishes in the New Year!

Sincerely,

Harold J. Krent
Dean and Professor of Law

Thank You to All of Our 2013 Volunteers
Each year, we are proud to recognize the hundreds of alumni and friend volunteers who generously share their time and talent with IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. Our volunteers play an essential and significant role at the law school almost every day in activities such as performing mock interviews, sharing career advice on a panel, coaching a winning Trial Ad team or serving on one of our many advisory boards. THANK YOU  to our volunteers for being exceptional members of the Chicago-Kent community and making a lasting impact. To view the 2013 Volunteer Honor Roll, click here.

Volunteer for Alumni/Student ConneKtions Week
ASCK Week: Alumni/Student ConneKtions Week is a week-long extravaganza of opportunities for students to network and connect with Chicago-Kent alumni and gain valuable career-related skills. ASCK Week will be February 17-21, 2014 and we are looking for alumni to assist with a variety of activities such as informational interviews, mock interviews, Coffee ConneKtions and job shadowing. For more information or to volunteer, click here.

Problem-Solving Course Needs Alumni Volunteers
Chicago-Kent's new experiential learning course, Strategic Problem-Solving and the Law, is in need of practicing lawyers to evaluate student presentations on January 16 and 17, 2014. Students will give oral presentations regarding two client problems, and alumni will provide informal feedback. Oral presentations should last no longer than one hour, and will be conducted at your Chicago-based office. To volunteer, click here.

Become an Alumni Ambassador for Chicago-Kent
Help Chicago-Kent recruit the best and brightest law students by serving as an Alumni Ambassador. The Alumni Association is seeking alumni to contact admitted students and answer any questions or concerns they may have about attending Chicago-Kent. Personal outreach can go a long way in attracting top students to our great law school. Contact takes place February through April. To volunteer, click here.
