From the Dean

Dean Harold J. Krent

Happy New Year from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law

The new year is upon us, and I look forward to sharing with you the achievements and accomplishments 2015 will bring to Chicago-Kent. As we continue to build a law school that is both student-centered and future-focused, the support of the alumni community is critical to our success.

Each year dedicated members of our alumni community give their valuable time to help prepare our students to meet the changing demands of our rigorous profession. These alumni serve on councils and advisory boards, as adjunct professors and guest lecturers, event speakers and career mentors. On behalf of the entire Chicago-Kent community, I would like to thank all of our 2014 alumni volunteers.

I encourage you to reconnect with Chicago-Kent in 2015. Update your contact information with our online directory, and let us know what you’ve been up to professionally by submitting a Class Note. Attend an event sponsored by the Chicago-Kent Alumni Association, or take advantage of the 2015 Alumni CLE Series beginning on January 15 and earn free IL MCLE credit. Volunteer for Alumni-Student ConneKtions Week or serve as a mentor in the Solo and Small Practice Incubator. The opportunities to get involved at Chicago-Kent are as unique and diverse as our alumni themselves. I hope you will become an active part of our success in 2015.

Best wishes in the New Year!

Sincerely,

Harold J. Krent
Dean and Professor of Law

Thank You to All of Our 2014 Volunteers
Each year, hundreds of alumni and friends generously share their time and talent with IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. Our volunteers play an essential and significant role at the law school almost every day in activities such as performing mock interviews, sharing career advice, coaching a winning Trial Ad or Moot Court team or serving on one of our many advisory boards. We are proud to recognize their outstanding efforts. Thank you to all of our volunteers for being dedicated members of the Chicago-Kent community! View the 2014 Chicago-Kent Volunteer Honor Roll here.

Become a Chicago-Kent Alumni Ambassador

Help Chicago-Kent recruit the best and brightest law students by serving as an Alumni Ambassador. The Alumni Association is seeking alumni to contact admitted students and answer any questions or concerns they may have about attending Chicago-Kent. Personal outreach can go a long way in attracting top students to our great law school. Contact takes place February through April. For more information, visit our website here.

Rachel Brady '13

Rachel Brady ’13 received the 2015 Skadden Fellowship in December 2014. Established by the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, the prestigious two-year fellowship supports graduating law students and judicial clerks who wish to pursue public interest work.

Currently working as a staff clerk in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, Rachel will work at Equip for Equality, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization that protects the rights of people with disabilities in Illinois, during her fellowship period. Rachel’s project will focus on representing youth with disabilities in, or transitioning out of, Illinois juvenile justice facilities and Chicago's alternative schools.
