Faculty and Staff: Nominations Are Now Open for the 30th Annual Alumni Awards

On Wednesday, December 5, the office of Alumni Relations will host the 30th annual Alumni Awards Luncheon at the Standard Club. At this event, we will honor a few outstanding individuals with the following awards:

  • The Professional Achievement Award (alumnus or non-alumnus)
  • The Distinguished Service Award (alumnus or non-alumnus)
  • The Young Alumni Award (alumnus)
  • The Honorable Abraham Lincoln Marovitz Public Interest Law Awards (alumnus) (Note: these awards will be handed out at a separate Public Interest Reception).

At this time, we are soliciting nominations for all four awards listed above. As faculty and staff at Chicago-Kent, you are likely to have contact with many accomplished graduates or individuals in the field, and we encourage you to highlight their achievements to honor them in this special way.

Nominations are due August 31, 2007 by 5 pm and may be submitted by Chicago-Kent Faculty, Staff, and Alumni. To nominate an individual and to see a description of each award, please visit: http://www.kentlaw.edu/depts/alums/lunch/nominationform.html.

Thank you Class of 2007!

Thank you to the class of 2007 for your generosity in giving to the Class Gift! Prior to graduation in the Robing Room on May 20th, the Class of 2007 presented a check to Dean Harold J. Krent, Professor Ronald Staudt and Professor Vivian Gross representing $9,664.88 donated by more than 100 students to Chicago-Kent.

The funds are primarily allocated to an LRAP (Loan Repayment Assistance Program). This program will provide financial assistance to Chicago-Kent graduates burdened with educational debt who work in the public interest at very modest salaries. Twenty-eight percent of the class participated in the Class Gift, which is the greatest number of participants of any graduating class so far!

(l-r) Joel Roberson 07, Gabriela Reyes-Noyola 07, Frank Hill 07, and Rafael Vargas 07 present the 2007 Class Gift to Dean Hal Krent, Professor Vivien Gross and Professor Ron Staudt.
