Class of 2008 Graduation Information

The Office of Alumni Relations is pleased to be planning your commencement. Commencement details and FAQs are available on the Commencement Portal at www.kentlaw.edu/commencement. This site is updated regularly. It is your responsibility to check the site and your kent email frequently for the most up to date information.

Your Commencement Timeline

Wednesday, March 5:

Graduation Fair
Representatives from Traditions USA will be on site from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm to take orders for caps and gowns. It will also be an opportunity to learn more about everything related to your 2008 Commencement.

Wednesday, March 26 & Thursday, March 27 Last Composite Photo Sitting
Sign up to take a composite photo on one of these two dates. You may sign up from now until Monday, March 24 in the Office of Alumni Relations, suite 310, M-F 8: 30 am - 5:30 pm. The photos are quick and FREE! You are under no obligation to purchase a photo, and it doesnít cost anything to have your smiling face included in the composite. More information here.
Tuesday, April 1:

Graduate Information Form Due
This form is required to participate in commencement exercises. You may access the form here.

Tuesday, April 1:

Cap and Gown Form
This form is required to participate in commencement exercises. Cap and gown rental is complimentary; however, forms submitted after April 1 will be charged a late fee. You may access the form here. Instructions and more info are on the Cap and Gown page.

Monday, April 21 – Friday, May 2:

Ticket Distribution Begins
Each graduate will receive 7 complimentary tickets. Graduates and children under two do not need a ticket. Both the Cap and Gown form and the Graduate Information Form must be filled out before you can recieve your tickets. Click here for more ticket information.

Monday, May 5 – Friday, May 9:

Additional Ticket Purchase Begins
Students wishing to purchase tickets beyond the 7 complimentary tickets may do so on a first come first serve basis for $15/ticket. Click here for more ticket information.

Sunday, May 18:

Commencement
The 2008 Commencement Ceremony takes place at 2:00 pm at the Arie Crown Theatre, McCormick Place. A reception for graduates, family and friends follows immediately outside the Theatre.


Graduation Fair - This Wednesday!

Stop by to learn about everything related to your 2008 Commencement. Reps from Traditions USA will be available to take cap and gown orders and other commencement memorabilia.


Cap and Gown Order Forms - Due April 1

All students who will be participating in commencement should order their caps and gowns by Tuesday, April 1, 2008. There is NO CHARGE to rent the cap and gown, unless you submit your request after the deadline. All Caps and Gowns will be distributed on the day of commencement.

You may request your cap and gown two ways:

  1. In person at the Graduation Fair on March 5.

  2. Using the online form: https://www.traditionsusa.com/forms/ChicagoKentCollegeOfLawcapgown.asp

Composite Photos - Last Session

If you missed the previous photo sittings this is your LAST CHANCE to be part of your class photo. The photos are quick and FREE! You are under no obligation to purchase a photo, and it doesn’t cost anything to have your smiling face included in the composite.

Session Dates: Wednesday, March 26 & Thursday, March 27
11:00 AM to 7:00 PM ~ Room 325
Each session is scheduled for 20 minutes.

Sign up for a session: Today through Monday, March 24
Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Time slots are given on a first come first serve basis, however, we request that those who are able to make a daytime spot leave the later sessions for evening students. If you cannot get to the office of alumni relations during our business hours email commencement@kentlaw.edu to sign up for a spot.

2008 Class Gift

Giving Update

As of February 29, 2008 we have raised $2,080 of our $11,000 goal. We are 19% of the way there!


Make your Pledge or Gift Today

Promote a lasting legacy to Chicago-Kent by supporting the 2008 Class Gift: Building Signage. The class gift goal is to raise $11,000 and beat the Class of 2006ís record of $10,500. Everyone who donates will be presented a handsome school-emblem zipper pull for their graduation robes.

Help Your First-Year Section Win!
Every gift will be tallied according to First Year Section. The donors from the section with the greatest number of participants by April 15th will receive a prize.

Invite Your Families to Support the Class Gift
Is your family asking you what you'd like as a graduation gift? Suggest that they donate to the 2008 class gift in your honor! Each student will be formally notified of gifts in their honor. All donations are tax deductible. Click here for a pdf gift form or pick one up at the graduation fair.
