Class of 2008 Graduation Information

The Office of Alumni Relations is pleased to be planning your commencement. Commencement details and FAQs are available on the Commencement Portal at This site is updated regularly. It is your responsibility to check the site and your kent email frequently for the most up to date information.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan2008 Commencement - Keynote Speaker

The Office of Alumni Relations is pleased to announce that the 2008 Commencement Keynote Speaker will be Attorney General Lisa Madigan.

2008 Commencement - Special Assistance

If you or your guests will require special assistance or accessible seating at the commencement ceremony, please contact Tara Anderson, Director of Alumni Relations, at (312) 906-5245 or to receive reserved seating tickets by April 21, 2008.

Your Commencement Timeline

Tuesday, April 1:

Graduate Information Form Due
This form is required to participate in commencement exercises. You may access the form here. If you have not already filled it out, please do so ASAP. Commencement tickets will not be distributed until this form is completed.

Monday, April 21 Special Assistance Seating Deadline
If you or your guests will need special assistance and/or accessible seating, contact to reserve special assistance seating by April 21.
Monday, April 21 – Friday, May 2:

Ticket Distribution Begins
Each graduate will receive 7 complimentary tickets. Graduates and children under two do not need a ticket. Both the Cap and Gown form and the Graduate Information Form must be filled out before you can recieve your tickets. Click here for more ticket information.

Monday, May 5:

Last Day to Order Cap and Gown Without Added Rush Fee
This form is required to participate in commencement exercises. Cap and gown rental is complimentary; however, forms submitted after April 1 will be charged a $20 late fee. Forms submitted after May 5 will be charged an additional $15, on top of the $20 late fee. You may access the form here. Instructions and more info are on the Cap and Gown page.

Monday, May 5 – Friday, May 9:

Additional Ticket Purchase Begins
Students wishing to purchase tickets beyond the 7 complimentary tickets may do so on a first come first serve basis for $15/ticket. Click here for more ticket information.

Sunday, May 18:

The 2008 Commencement Ceremony takes place at 2:00 pm at the Arie Crown Theatre, McCormick Place. A reception for graduates, family and friends follows immediately outside the Theatre. Graduates should arrive at the Theatre NO LATER THAN 12:45 PM in order to pick up their cap and gowns and line up for the procession.

Is your family asking you what you'd like as a graduation gift? Suggest that they donate to the 2008 class gift in your honor! Each student will be formally notified of gifts in their honor. First-Year Section Contest: Ends April 15!

Every gift made to the 2008 Class Gift will be tallied according to First Year Section. The donors from the section with the greatest number of participants by April 15th will receive a prize. Congratulations Evening students - you're in the lead!
