2010 Commencement Information

Your Commencement is Sunday, May 16, 2010

Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 Graduates: The Alumni Association is your home for Commencement 2010! Your official commencement ceremony will take place Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 2:30 pm at the UIC Forum, 725 W Roosevelt Rd., Chicago, IL 60608.

Please watch your kentlaw.edu email for announcements and updates throughout the semester. For more information, including FAQs, please visit the Commencement Portal online.

May 2010 Graduates: Required Forms

In order to graduate, all students must submit the following forms:

  1. The 2010 Graduate Survey must be submitted no later than Friday, April 23. All information is strictly confidential. Please note, this survey is ONLY for May 2010 Graduates.

  1. The Application for Graduation was due on Friday, February 5. Contact the Registrar's Office immediately if you did not fill it out and you intend to graduate in May.

In order to participate in the commencement ceremony on May 16, 2010, all students must submit the following form:

  1. The Cap and Gown Order Form. Caps and Gowns ordered by Thursday, April 1 are complimentary on behalf of the Alumni Association; however, forms submitted beginning April 2 at Midnight will be charged a late fee.

GRAD FEST: Tuesday, May 4
Pick up your Cap & Gown and Tickets

Tuesday, May 4, 2010
10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

2010 graduates, join us at the GRAD FEST to receive your graduation gift, your 7 complimentary commencement tickets and your cap and gown. Please be sure to bring a picture ID!

Those wishing to purchase extra tickets may do so on a first-come, first-serve basis for $10/ticket. Graduates and children under 2 do not need a ticket. For additional details on tickets visit the Commencement ticketing page.

Please note: You MUST pick up your commencement materials on this day. If you will be out of town, please email commencement@kentlaw.edu ASAP.

Commencement
The 2010 Commencement Ceremony takes place at 2:30 p.m. at the UIC Forum, 725 W Roosevelt Rd., Chicago, IL 60608. Graduates should arrive by 1:00. A champagne reception immediately follows.

J.D. Class Gift Project

The 2010 Class Gift Committee announces two J.D. class gift projects: 

1) The Loan Repayment Assistance Program. This endowed program provides financial assistance to Chicago-Kent graduates burdened with educational debt who work in the public interest at very modest salaries.

2) A Technology Enhancement Fund for the Office of Career Services to improve technology for students as they apply for jobs and internships.

LL.M. Class Gift Project

The Office of Institutional Law and Policy Technology Enhancement Fund

This year, for the first time, the 2010 LLM graduating class is sponsoring a class gift to benefit the Office of International Law and Policy Development (OILP). 

As part of the graduation celebration, LLM students are invited to support the LLM Class Gift to raise money to benefit the OILP Technology Enhancement Fund.  Funds will help underwrite capital purchases like a scanner for use by LLM students in OILP.

All donors to the class gift will receive a pewter zipper pull to wear on their graduation robes and will be recognized online and in the Chicago-Kent community.  A suggested minimum contribution is $10.

On this special night the White Sox are offering half-priced tickets to all Chicago-Kent alumni, students, faculty, staff, and their family & friends. Tickets regularly priced at $39, $35 and $20 are available for $19.50, $17.50 and $10.

Ticket orders must be submitted to the Chicago White Sox by Friday, April 23 . There are three ticket purchase options:

  1. WEB: Click here , select your number of tickets, and type “KENT” in the special offer code box. Service fees will apply. This option may only be used for orders of 19 or fewer tickets.
  2. PHONE: Call (866) 769-4263 for Ticketmaster and give the "KENT" code. Service fees will apply.
  3. FAX/MAIL: Click here to download a printable registration form.   A $5 handling fee will apply with all fax and mail orders of less than 20 tickets.

In an effort to help you connect with a strong network of Chicago-Kent alumni, the Chicago-Kent Alumni Association and Office of Career Services encourage you to take advantage of the law school’s “Alumni Career Advisor Network.”

Alumni from around the world are available to discuss issues such as practice trends, legal markets in specific geographic areas, and other career-related topics. This is an excellent opportunity to start building your personal network with Chicago-Kent alumni!

To search for an Alumni Career Advisor, all you have to do is log-in to the Chicago-Kent Alumni Online Community:

First Time Login Instructions:

  1. Go to www.alumni.kentlaw.edu/firstlogin

  2. In the Constituent ID field, enter your Banner CWID.
    To find your Banner CWID login to http://my.iit.edu. Once you are logged, on the right side of your screen you should see a box called IIT Personal ID numbers. The Banner CWID is the number beginning with “A.”
  1. In the Class Year Field:
    1. If you are an LLM student, enter LLM
    2. If you are a Visiting student, enter LV
    3. If you are a JD student your Class Year will be three characters. The first letter for all class years will be L. The second letter is your division. The third is your year number.
      Examples: A 2nd year night student’s class year is LN2. A 1st year day student’s class year is LD1.

During your first time login you will create a username and password. Afterwards, you may log in directly at www.alumni.kentlaw.edu/advisorsearch using the username and password you created.
