Dean Krent is delighted to announce that U.S. Supreme Court Justices Stephen Breyer and Antonin Scalia will be visiting Chicago-Kent this fall.

“Judicial Takings”:  Keynote Address by Antonin Scalia, Associate Justice, Supreme Court of the United States
Tuesday, October 18, 2011
Noon–6:00 p.m. ~ Conference includes a keynote by Justice Scalia, a moot court competition, and reception

Given limited available seating, Chicago-Kent students and staff are eligible to be entered in a lottery to attend the events – there will be overflow seating available.

The deadline to enter for the Justice Breyer event is September 1. The deadline to enter for the Justice Scalia event is October 6.

Please note: Only one entry allowed per person.

You will be notified on Friday, September 2 if you are chosen for the Justice Breyer event and must confirm your participation no later than September 7. The lottery for the Justice Scalia event will be drawn on Friday, October 7. Notifications will go out on that day.

Justice Breyer Talk: Social-media savvy student wanted!

The Alumni Association is looking for a student with social media skills to help us cover Justice Stephen G. Breyer’s lecture and book signing on September 13. This is a great opportunity to be behind the scenes for the event, and help showcase the law school to our alumni and friends!

To apply, email alums@kentlaw.edu with:

  • Your name, email, and year in school
  • A statement about why you would like the assignment
  • Links to your Twitter feed/Facebook profile/blog (if applicable)
  • Your favorite thing about Chicago-Kent College of Law

Applicants must be able to attend a volunteer meeting on Tuesday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m. Preference will be given to students who can use their personal smartphone with photo/internet capability, although a laptop can be provided as well. Fall 2011 Graduates

Application for Graduation due September 2

Students (JD) who plan on graduating at the end of the Fall semester must submit a graduation application form online no later than Friday, September 2, 2011.

To complete the form online, log in to your webmail account; click on the Web for Students icon in lower left portion of the left frame; select "Application for Graduation" under the "Online Forms" heading; complete the full form (please complete every field); and submit your selection. You will receive a confirmation e-mail once a graduation audit has been performed.

The Ralph Brill Chair Investiture

Help us celebrate Chicago-Kent’s first endowed chair!

Adrian Walters, a native of Nottingham, United Kingdom (UK), will be invested as the inaugural holder of the Ralph Brill Chair of Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the investiture ceremony and celebrate this significant milestone.
