The Future of Violence: Register now for the Palmer Prize Lecture on September 16

Join Chicago-Kent faculty, students, and alumni for a lecture by Benjamin Wittes (Brookings Institution) and Gabriella Blum (Harvard Law) on their award-winning book The Future of Violence: Robots and Germs, Hackers and Drones—Confronting a New Age of Threat.

The Future of Violence won Chicago-Kent's 2015 Palmer Civil Liberties Prize for outstanding scholarship on the tension between civil liberties and national security in contemporary American society. The book explores how advances in technology give ordinary citizens and terrorists alike the tools to carry out devastating attacks and proposes solutions for how governments can respond.

Save the date for the 3rd annual Student-Alumni Softball Tournament

Join The Chicago-Kent Alumni Association and the Young Alumni Council on Saturday, September 17 for the 2nd annual Chicago-Kent Student-Alumni 16" Softball Tournament! We'll be taking the field from 9 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. Each team is guaranteed at least three games. We will be providing umpires and equipment (teams are responsible for bringing their own bats), as well as bottled water and Gatorade.

So grab a few friends and sign up as a team, or sign up as an individual and we'll place you on a team. If you have a friend or two you'd like to play with, let us know and we'll do our best to make sure you're on the same team. Either way, it's time to dig up your glove, dust off your cleats, and compete for the 2nd annual Chicago-Kent Student-Alumni Softball Tournament championship!

More information for registration will be included in an upcoming Record as well as at the Student Organization Fair on August 30, 2016. Contact alums@kentlaw.iit.edu if you have any questions.

Registration will be available for individuals and teams.
