Program Highlights
Becoming an effective expert witness is
an ongoing process. The purpose of this intensive half-day seminar
is to contribute to that process by providing participants with information
about the law that applies to experts in Illinois, and the skills for effectively
communicating information. Distinguished judges, experienced expert
witnesses, a clinical professor of law with many years of trial experience,
and a nationally recognized trial consultant will highlight the elements
of litigation procedure essential to expert witnesses. They will
illustrate and explain legal terminology, the specific law that experts
need to know, the expert-attorney relationship, the various phases of the
litigation process, what to expect in court, and how to prepare for deposition,
direct and cross-examination.
You Will Want
to Attend This Program If:
-
you have ever been asked to participate in
the trial process as an expert but weren't sure you wanted to become involved
and need more information on exactly what the process entails
-
you have testified before but would like to
improve your skills
-
you would like to engage in an interactive
discussion on current developments that experts are facing
-
you have concerns about:
What kinds of questions will I
be asked during deposition?
Just exactly what is the opposing
lawyer trying to do?
Can my personal life or income
be examined in court?
Can I talk to the Judge during
questioning?
How can I best communicate information
to the jury?
How can I overcome the stage fright
I feel before testifying?
What do I do if I feel intimidated?
What is the key to effective testimony?
What if I can’t answer the question?
