The Law of the Lake: The Next Generation of
Lake Michigan Conservation Issues

On Thursday, April 27, from 9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., the law school will host a conference addressing the current legal issues relating to the conservation of the Lake Michigan ecosystem.
This program is designed for attorneys, students, and community groups interested in learning about pressing legal and policy issues that may determine the health of the Lake Michigan ecosystem.  This conference is especially timely given the expected April release of the U.S. EPA's Lake Michigan Lakewide Management Plan.

Program Highlights include: Where the Law and Lake Michigan Intersect; The Legal Framework for Great Lakes Issues; What Role can TMDL Play in Improving the Health of the Lake Michigan Ecosystem; Controlling Air Toxic Deposition; Basin Water Use and Water Exports; Sensitive Shoreline Areas; Contaminated Sediments; Exotic Aquatic Organisms; and Shaping the Agenda to Ensure Lake Michigan's Health.  A complete program brochure is available from the office of continuing legal education on the 6th floor.

Law students (JD only) enrolled at Chicago-Kent are encouraged to attend any or all of the program sessions. However, pre-registration is required!  To register, please stop by the Office of Continuing Legal and Professional Education (Suite 673) to fill out a registration form, or email rvicario.  Students must register no later than Monday, April 24, 2000.
