The 16th annual Public Sector Labor Relations Law Program

On Friday, October 13, 2000, the law school will host the 16th annual Public Sector Labor Relations Law Program. This conference is designed for lawyers whose practice involves labor law, local government law or school law; state and local government and public education officials, administrators and labor relations officers; union officials, business agents and uniserv directors; and arbitrators and mediators.  The opening plenary features Nancy Mills, Director, Center for Workplace Democracy, AFL-CIO and William K. Strycker, Vice President of Human Resources, Madison Area Technical College who will address the topic, “Labor-Management Cooperation.” This will be followed by concurrent workshops on IPLRA Developments, New Approaches to Compensation in Education, Effective Advocacy in Arbitration, Ethics in Representation, Work-Family Issues, IELRA Developments, Interest Arbitration, Mutual Gains Bargaining, FLSA Developments, EEO Developments, Police Forum, Firefighter Forum, The Art of Negotiating a Collective Bargaining Agreement, ADA, FMLA & Workers’ Compensation, and Privacy in the Electronic Workplace.  The workshop format provides participants with the opportunity to discuss specific issues with experts in the public sector labor relations field.

Law students (JD only) enrolled at Chicago-Kent are welcome to attend any or all of the program sessions free of charge (note: course materials are not included; however, copies of the materials will be available in the library at a later date).  However, pre-registration is required!  To register, please stop by the Office of Continuing Legal and Professional Education (Suite 673) to fill out a registration form or email rvicario. Students must register on or before Tuesday, October 10, 2000.

Also, if you are interested in providing some of your time to volunteer at the program in exchange for complementary course materials and an opportunity to network at the program luncheon and reception, please let us know when you stop by the office to register, or by e-mailing rvicario.
