ATTENTION - ALL STUDENTS INTERESTED IN ILLINOIS PUBLIC SECTOR LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT LAW
On Friday, October 5, 2001, the law school will present the 17th annual Illinois Public Sector Labor Relations Law Program. This conference is designed for lawyers whose practice involves labor law, local government law or school law; state and local government and public education officials, administrators and labor relations officers; union officials, business agents and uniserv directors; and arbitrators and mediators. The opening plenary session features Paul G. Vallas, Former CEO, Chicago Public Schools who will address the topic "School Reform and Labor Relations." This will be followed by concurrent workshops on IELRA Developments, Police and Firefighter Forum, EEO Developments, Effective Advocacy in Arbitration, Privatization, Including What Happens to the Private Contractor, Interest Arbitration, Rights and Discipline in the Electronic Workplace, Practice and Procedure Before the Labor Boards, ADA, FMLA & Workers Compensation, Higher Education Forum, IPLRA Developments, New Approaches to Health Insurance, FLSA Developments, Arbitration and Public Policy, Effective Use of Mediation. The workshop format provides participants with the opportunity to discuss specific issues with experts in the public sector labor relations field.
Law students (JD only) enrolled at Chicago-Kent are welcome to attend any or all of the program sessions free of charge (note: course materials are not included; however, copies of the materials will be available in the library at a later date). However, pre-registration is required! To register, please stop by the Office of Continuing Legal and Professional Education (Suite 673) to fill out a registration form or email rvicario. Students must register on or before Tuesday, October 2, 2001.
Also, if you are interested in providing some of your time to volunteer at the program in exchange for complementary course materials and an opportunity to network at the program luncheon and reception, please let us know when you stop by the office to register, or by e-mailing rvicario.
