ATTENTION - ALL STUDENTS INTERESTED IN ILLINOIS PUBLIC SECTOR LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT LAW

On Friday, November 12, 2003, the law school will present the 20th annual Illinois Public Sector Labor Relations Law Program. This conference is designed for lawyers whose practice involves labor law, local government law or school law; for state and local government and public education officials, administrators and labor relations officers; for union officials, business agents and uniserv directors; and for arbitrators and mediators. The opening plenary session features Hon. Rebecca R. Pallmeyer, US District Court Judge, Northern District of Illinois, who will address the topic "Trends in Employment Law and the Public Sector Workplace." Her speech will be followed by concurrent hands-on, interactive workshops on several hot button topics of current interest: IPLRA Developments, Card Check Recognition, EEO Update, First Amendment Issues, The Conundrum of Leave: FMLA, Military Leave, Victims of Domestic Violence Act and Workers Compensation, IELRA Developments, Interest Arbitration, Effective Arbitration Advocacy, Trends in Public Sector Bargaining, FLSA Developments, No Child Left Behind Act, Higher Education Forum, Police & Firefighter Forum, Mental Health Issues: Dealing with Employees Mental Dissabilities, and Employee Benefits Update.

Law students (JD only) enrolled at Chicago-Kent are welcome to attend any or all of the program sessions free of charge. Course materials are not included, however, copies of the materials will be available in the library after the program.

If you are interested in volunteering to work at the conference, in exchange for complementary course materials and an opportunity to network at the conference luncheon and reception, please let us know when you stop by the office (Suite 673) to register, or by e-mailing rvicario. Pre-registration is required no later than Tuesday, November 4, 2003.
