ATTENTION - ALL STUDENTS INTERESTED IN
CIVIL RIGHTS LITIGATION
The 22nd annual conference on Section
1983 Civil Rights Litigation
On Thursday and Friday, April 14-15,
2005, Chicago-Kent will present Professor Sheldon Nahmod's
22nd annual Section 1983 conference. The conference features
nationally prominent law professors and practitioners who
offer instruction on both the fundamentals and the more
advanced aspects of §1983 practice and trial skills, and
analyze the latest case decisions. If you can attend only
one session, come for Professor Nahmod's lecture on the
prima facie case against individuals. This is a unique opportunity
for students who intend to be involved in federal court
litigation when they practice.
Law students (JD only) enrolled at Chicago-Kent
are welcome to attend any or all of the program sessions
free of charge. Course materials are not included;
however, copies of the materials will be available in the
library after the program.
If you are interested in volunteering to
work at the conference, in exchange for complementary course
materials and an opportunity to network at the program reception,
please let us know when you stop by the office (Suite 673)
to register, or by e-mailing rvicario@kentlaw.edu. Pre-registration
is required no later than Tuesday, April 12, 2005.
The 27th annual Kenneth
M. Piper Lecture, April 5
“The Aging of the American Workforce”
is the topic of this year’s Kenneth M. Piper Lecture. Sara
Rix, senior policy advisor to AARP’s Public Policy Institute,
will examine America’s approach to older workers, on Tuesday,
April 5, from 11:30-1:00pm in the auditorium. David Kadue
of Seyfarth Shaw and Shaun O’Brien from the AFL-CIO’s Public
Policy department will provide commentary. The lecture is
especially timely given the ongoing debate about the social
security system. All faculty, students and staff are invited
to attend.
