Illinois Public Sector Labor Relations Law Program

On Friday, December 1, 2006, the law school will present the 22nd annual Illinois Public Sector Labor Relations Law Program. This conference is designed for lawyers whose practice involves labor law, local government law or school law; for state and local government and public education officials, administrators and labor relations officers; for union officials, business agents and uniserv directors; and for arbitrators and mediators. The opening plenary session features Laurence Msall, President of the Civic Federation, who will address the topic “The Status and Future of Public Employee Retiree Benefits.” His speech will be followed by concurrent hands-on, interactive workshops on several hot button topics of current interest: IPLRA Developments, Pensions, Retiree Health Insurance, Retirement Benefits in the Educational Sector, Interest Arbitration, Military Leave, Ethical Dilemmas in the Practice of Labor Law and Labor Relations, Charter Schools, First Amendment Issues in the Light of Garcetti v. Ceballos, IELRA Developments, Medical Records Confidentiality, Police & Firefighter Forum, Work-Family Conflict Issues, Higher Education Forum, Managing Complex Issues in Negotiations, A Primer on Unemployment Compensation, and The Interplay of the Grievance & Labor Board Processes.

Law students (JD only) enrolled at Chicago-Kent are welcome to attend any or all of the program sessions free of charge. Course materials, luncheon and reception are not included, however, copies of the materials will be available in the library after the program.
