CSO Information & Announcements

1L CSO Meeting Deadline Extended to March 19, 2012

Each 1L student is required to meet with his or her assigned career counselor for an initial career services appointment.  The deadline for this meeting has been extended to March 19, 2012.  Appointments may be made via Symplicity.  Your career counselor has great career planning information, practitioner contacts, and job search strategies, but can only help if you make an appointment!

Given the difficult market it is more important than ever that you work with your career counselor to formulate a comprehensive strategy to accomplish your career goals and if necessary to adjust them to accommodate a longer-term plan for your success.  Before attending your career strategy session with your counselor, we recommend conducting some self-analysis regarding the types of law that interest you, the types of settings in which you would like to practice, etc.  In addition, please bring your most recent resume with you to the appointment.

Spring Resume Books: Opt-In and Report Results

Resume Books are back for spring! Spring Semester Resume Books are now available for “opt-in” for all 1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls and Recent Graduates (2011 class).  Remember, even if you opted in last semester, you must resubmit your resume to the books of your choices for the Spring Semester.  We have notified employers that resume books are available. You may still opt-in to a resume book at any time, but we encourage you to submit your resume as soon as possible in order to reach the largest amount of employers.

As a reminder, a Resume Book is exactly what it sounds like, a collection of resumes that can be distributed to employers on request. Our resume books will collect the resumes of students and recent graduates in a particular class (e.g. 2Ls) with similar interests (e.g. immigration law, real estate law, or working in the northern suburbs), and then notify employers who fit those criteria that the books are available for review. These books can also be used when an employer calls up our office looking for a particular type of student to clerk for them (“We are looking for a 3L interested in litigation who has worked as a 711 clerk.”), so that we can respond quickly and efficiently to employer requests (in that case by looking at the 3L Litigation Resume Book for students who have been 711 clerks).

If you have additional questions about Resume Books, or would like your resume reviewed prior to opting in to a Resume Book, please contact your Career Counselor. If you receive an interview or offers from an employer through Resume Books, please report this to our office by sending an email to kentcso@kentlaw.edu.

Makeup Procedures for Mandatory 1L Orientation

The make-up procedures for the Mandatory 1L Career Services Orientation program are now available. A video of this week’s program, along with all accompanying handouts, is posted on-line here: http://www.kentlaw.edu/depts/cso/videos/videos.html. To watch the video, the user name is “videos” and the password is “kentlaw.”  One of the handouts is a survey form – please make sure that you fill out the correct form (for 2014 or 2015 graduates) and fill it out as completely as possible. We use this forms to assign your career counselor.  Please return your completed form to the Career Services Office (Suite 360) AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Survey forms are also available in the Career Services Office.

Listserv Registration and Testing

We recently tested the various Career Services listservs. If you have signed up for a listserv and did not receive a “test” email for that listserv, please contact Kentcso@kentlaw.edu to let us know that you were erroneously omitted from that listserv.  If you receive an email from a listserv that you no longer want to be included on, please also email Kentcso@kentlaw.edu noting which listserv(s) you wish to be removed from.Finally, if you have not yet submitted a listserv registration form, you can complete this form and email it back to mschmitt@kentlaw.edu, fax it to 312-906-5171 or drop it off in the Career Services Office.These listservs will be used to distribute career services information, so quick registration will ensure that you do not miss any important  information.

CSO Program Videos Now Available Online!

The Career Services Office is pleased to announce that videos of our programming are now available to be viewed online. Most of our programming will be available on our website within 1-2 days of the original program date and will remain available for viewing for 2-3 weeks, due to limited server space. Program videotapes will still be available in our office. A password is required to view these programs. On-Campus Interviews

February 24:  Navy JAG On-Campus Informational Interviews

The US Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps will be on-campus next Friday, February 24th from 9am to noon to provide informational interviews for students interested in learning more about opportunities with the Navy JAG.  The interviewer, JAG Officer Howard A. Smith, will answer questions of students and provide information on procedures for applying and interviewing with the Navy JAG.  Please note, these are not actual interviews for employment, but rather, they are informational interviews to provide you with information about the Navy JAG.  While the deadline for summer 2012 internships has passed, applications for externships can be submitted any time, and students can apply for permanent employment after completing their first year.

February 29: On-Campus Interview with Air Force JAG Corps

The US Air Force JAG will be conducting on-campus interviews at Chicago-Kent on February 29th beginning at 9am.  1Ls and 2Ls will be interviewed regarding summer internships and 3Ls will be interviewed regarding permanent positions in the JAG Corps.  Please note that these interviews are mostly informational and additional steps must be taken to formally apply for a position with the US Air Force JAG.  For more information please got to http://www.jagusaf.hq.af.mil/You will be able to access this session in Symplicity beginning on January 17, 2012.  All documents must be uploaded and bids finalized by 5pm on Thursday, February 23, 2012. Don't Forget to Report Callbacks and Offers!

If you receive callbacks/offers during the fall interview season, please report this to our office by sending an email to kentcso@kentlaw.edu every couple weeks or so.  Please include from what source you obtained the interview/offer (OCI, resume collect, CCBA job fair, Loyola Patent Fair, etc.).  We keep track of these in order to determine how students are doing and where our students end up working during the summer/after graduation.  Also, if you have any concerns about how your interviews are progressing or questions about the interview process, please make an appointment to talk with a career counselor.

February 21:  Fair Housing and Landlord Tenant Law Training

Have you always wondered what “fair housing” really means?  Do you know your rights as a tenant or home buyer?  Do you want to learn how to help those who have faced discrimination in obtaining housing?  Then come to the Fair Housing and Landlord/Tenant Law Training!  The Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, as part of the Chicago Fair Housing Education Consortium, will provide education about fair housing and landlord/tenant laws, and detail how you can get involved with local organizations to help those struggling with housing issues.  This program will be held on Tuesday, February 21st at noon in room 370, and is co-sponsored by the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Inc., the Career Services Office, Kent Justice Foundation and Real Estate Law Society.

February 21:  International Office & International Law Student Association:  Summer Opportunities Program

Interested in study abroad or in international law opportunities? The Office of International Law and Policy and the International Law Student Association will collaborate to discuss and explain study abroad and international summer internship opportunities available to law students.  This program will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from noon-1p.m. in room 170Pizza will be provided! 

February 22: Twin Cities Diversity in Practice Chicago Dinner

Twin Cities Diversity in Practice, an organization of 24 law firms and 12 corporate legal departments with a mission to attract, recruit, advance and retain attorneys of color in the Twin Cities legal community has a great opportunity coming up for diverse Chicago-Kent students. Twin Cities Diversity in Practice will be hosting a dinner, on Wednesday, February 22nd from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Carnivale Restaurant located at 702 W. Fulton Street. The dinner will provide a great opportunity for students to meet with Twin Cities practicing attorneys and learn more about opportunities that exist in the Twin Cities. February 22:  Professionalism Series:  Salary Negotiations

Salary Negotiations:  It’s something we all dread – the job posting asking what your salary expectations are; or, even worse, the same question catches you off guard in an actual interview.  What is reasonable?  What can you actually afford to live on?  How do you justify something that might be higher than industry average?  What about bonuses, benefits and other hidden pluses?  This program will help you determine what your budget should be, and therefore what you can reasonably live on, as well as how to campaign for the best possible salary.  This program will be held on Wednesday, February 22 from 3-4pm, Room 370.  Please RSVP through Symplicity under the Events tab.

February 28:  CBA Careers in Environmental Law Program

This Chicago Bar Association program, presented by the Young Lawyers Section Environmental Law Committee, will be held at the Chicago Bar Association (321 S. Plymouth Ct., Chicago, IL 60604) on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 from 3:00-4:30 p.m.

February 28:  Professionalism Series: Working with Support Staff as a Law Clerk or New Attorney

Never worked with a secretary before?  Are you unsure regarding how to work with a paralegal?
As a new attorney or law clerk, it can be baffling as to what the legal support staff does and does not do - who should you ask for help putting a file together?  Cite-Checking?  Picking up dry cleaning? (For that last one, no one!)  What can you do right away to set the correct professional and collegial tone with the support staff at your new job?  Hear the good, the bad and the ugly on support staff/attorney relations from the people in the trenches! On February 29th, 2012, the Career Services Office will present an entire day of activities geared towards students interested in Alternative Careers. Cheryl Rich Heisler, President and Founder of Lawternatives, will be on campus all day to assist students considering an alternative to traditional legal practice.

March 10:  Apply for the Institute for Justice 2012 Law Student Conference, Sunday, June 24, 2012 at George Washington University

Founded in 1991, the Institute for Justice engages in cutting-edge litigation and advocacy both in the court of law and in the court of public opinion on behalf of individuals whose most basic rights are denied by the government-like the right to earn and honest living, private property rights, the right to free speech and educational choice. 

The Institute for Justice is now accepting applications for 2012 Law Student Conference.  IJ’s annual law student conference is open to first and second year law students will be held Friday, June 22 to Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the George Washington University in downtown Washington, DC. 

Law students interested in applying for the annual law student conference can find the online application at www.ij.org/students.  The application deadline is Thursday, March 1, 2012.

March 29:  Chicago-Kent Gallery Night (4-7pm), hosted by the Art and Cultural Law Society

The Art and Cultural Law Society will host "Chicago-Kent Gallery Night on March 29, 2012. From 4-5pm, a panel of attorneys who work with the arts will discuss the many opportunities in art and cultural law and their experience in this unique practice area.  From 5-7pm, a networking event for art law lawyers and students will take place in the 10th Floor event room.  During the networking event, Chicago-Kent students, faculty, and alumni will also have the opportunity to show off their creative side!  We are looking for members of the Chicago-Kent community to submit any kind of art, even sound, for inclusion in the ‘gallery.’  Please contact Amy Harvey, President of the Art and Cultural Law Society, at aharvey@kentlaw.edu for more details. 

March 30:  2012 Great Lakes Environmental Law Symposium

The 2012 Great Lakes Environmental Law Symposium, “A Discussion on the Future of Energy Law in Illinois and Beyond,” will be held on March 30, 2012 at Chicago-Kent.  The symposium is eligible for 3.5 hours of Illinois MCLE Credit.

The symposium will open with a keynote address from John Rowe, Chairman and CEO of Exelon.  The event will bring together diverse experts on energy law and policy from Illinois and beyond.  Panelists include environmental specialists from business and industry, professors of law, and non-profit conservation organizations.  A variety of academic and professional experts will discuss hot-button topics in energy law and policy including the future of coal in Illinois, alternative energy sources in the Great Lakes, and the use of Canadian oil sands in the Midwest.

February 24:  Deadline to apply for BP America, Inc: Diversity and Inclusion Summer Legal Intern Program

BP America, Inc. is seeking summer interns for its Diversity and Inclusion Summer Legal Intern program.  BP interns are expected to work full time for the 8 week program.  Exact start and end dates are flexible but generally run from early June through the middle of August.  Interns are paid competitively.

The purpose of this program is to expose interns to several areas of law practice and thereby help inform their curriculum and career choices.  Therefore, interns are rotated among BP’s various practice groups, generally working one to two weeks in each group.  A program coordinator acts as the intern’s immediate supervisor and mentor.

2012 Neal Gerber Eisenberg 1L Diversity Clerkship

Neal Gerber Eisenberg is now accepting applications for its 2012 Neal Gerber Eisenberg 1L Diversity Clerkship. 
Qualifications:   Applicants must demonstrate each of the following qualifications in their application materials:

1.  Superior academic credentials;
2.  Demonstrated leadership potential; and
3.  A personal track record of significant contributions to diversity efforts and/or diversity affinity networks in academic or professional environments. 

Examples of “significant contributions” include leadership positions in diversity affinity student organizations, mentoring and volunteering in diversity pipeline programs, work experience in civil rights organizations supporting diversity or combating discrimination, and other similar activities requiring personal engagement. 

Clerkship term:  10-week period over the summer, paid on an hourly basis.

Clerkship Structure:  Over the course of the clerkship, the law student will rotate through a few practice areas at the firm.  In each rotation, a partner and associate mentor will be assigned to provide an introduction to practice in that area and to coordinate work assignments and observation opportunities.

Selection criteria:  The firm will select the candidate who meets our academic standards and who demonstrates the highest potential to contribute significantly to the firm’s ongoing diversity efforts.

Application:  Applicants must submit a cover letter, personal statement, resume, official college and law school transcripts, a writing sample, and any additional material in support of their leadership potential and contributions to diversity efforts via email to NGEDiversityClerkship@ngelaw.com.

March 2:  Deadline to apply for the City of Chicago Department of Law 2012 Summer Law Clerk Program

The City of Chicago Department of Law invites law students to apply for its 2012 Summer Law Clerk Program. Usually, the program begins June 1st and is for a minimum of 10 weeks; however, the start date and duration of a law clerk’s summer will be determined by the law clerk and his/her direct supervisor. The Summer Program is designed to provide current law students with a challenging unpaid clerkship that reflects the demands and rewards of public service, as well as a realistic picture of what it is like to practice law for the City of Chicago. Participants in the Summer Program are not compensated.

During the Summer Program, the law clerks will be assigned to work in one of the practice divisions in the law department and participate in a wide variety of activities including:

  • assisting in trial preparation;
  • attending depositions;
  • observing real estate closings;
  • attending client meetings and court proceedings;
  • researching legal issues; and
  • drafting memoranda, briefs and contracts.

Also, law clerks that have finished their second year of law school and qualify for an Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711 license may represent the City in:

  • mandatory tort arbitrations in the Circuit Court of Cook County;
  • disciplinary hearings for the police and labor boards; and
  • labor arbitration.

Law clerks may also depose or examine witnesses in trials in state and federal court.

ABA John J. Curtin, Jr. Justice Fund Summer Legal Internship Program

The Curtin Justice Fund Legal Internship Program is seeking motivated law student interns to apply for stipends available for the Summer Program. These students should have a position offered, contingent on funding, from a qualified organization.

INTERNSHIP:
The Curtin Justice Fund Legal Internship Program is managed jointly by the ABA Commission on Homelessness and Poverty and the Standing Committee on Legal Aid and Indigent Defendants.  The Program will pay a $2,500 stipend to three law school students who spend the summer months working for a bar association or legal services program designed to prevent homelessness or assist homeless or indigent clients or their advocates.  The Legal Internship Program will provide much-needed legal assistance to organizations serving the under-represented and give students direct experience in a public interest forum.  Through this, it aims both to help homeless clients and to encourage careers in the law that further the goals of social justice.

The ideal intern will have a demonstrated interest in public interest law and experience working with poor people or on issues affecting them.  All law students are eligible, and first year law students are encouraged to apply.  The intern must commit no less than eight continuous weeks between May 1 and October 1 to the program of his or her choice.  Applicants must submit the attached application to the Curtin Internship Program, American Bar Association Commission on Homelessness and Poverty, 740 15th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005.

Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI): Applications Opened For 2Ls on October 15th

Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI): Applications for 2Ls for Summer 2012 opened on October 15th; Applications for 2Ls/3Ls for Spring 2012 open on November 1st The Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) offers $5,000 internships for students who spend their summer at one of their designated Chicago-area legal aid organizations. PILI also offers a limited number of 200-hour school year internships for Chicago area law students during the Spring Semester. Many PILI Interns provide low-income and disenfranchised clients with critically needed direct legal assistance. Other PILI Interns conduct advocacy, policy-based work or impact litigation that enhances the health, safety and welfare of the disenfranchised. All PILI Interns gain valuable work experience that distinguishes their education and ultimately their careers. As many as 12 Chicago-Kent students in one summer have received PILI internships! AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee - Minority Outreach Program

The AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee created the LCC Minority Outreach Program to encourage diverse law students to apply for summer clerkship opportunities at LCC law firms and legal departments. The outreach program seeks to introduce diverse law students to the practice of law in the labor movement and to encourage them to join the ranks of union-side attorneys in the ongoing battle for social and economic justice.The program includes a networking conference, at the conclusion of which, students are placed in the LCC Mentor Program. Through this program LCC attorneys provide guidance and support during and after the students' clerkships. Fellowships & Scholarships

ABA Environmental, Energy and Resources Section Diversity Program Summer Fellowships 2012

The ABA Diversity Fellowship in Environmental Law is designed to encourage disadvantaged or traditionally underrepresented law students to study and pursue careers in environmental law. The ABA Section of Environmental, Energy and Resources coordinates its work on environmental justice with not-for-profit organizations representing traditionally underserved groups, other not-for-profit environmental organizations, and local, state and federal governmental organizations which provide placements for the summer Fellowship recipients.Guidelines: Selected Fellowship recipients will have an 8-10 week internship commitment and will work on legal matters for a government agency or public interest organization in the fields of environmental, energy or resources law.  Please note that recipients will choose the state they wish to intern in, but will not be able to select where or in which organization they will be placed.

Stipend: Each successful recipient will receive a $5,000 ($6,000 for New York Fellows) stipend in exchange for participation in the Fellowship program.  The stipend does not cover travel expenses or include a housing allowance; these expenses are paid by the Fellowship recipient.

Federal Communications Bar Association Summer Stipends: Applications due March 14th

For the 19th consecutive year, the Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA) Foundation will award stipends to law students from its Chairman Robert E. Lee Scholarship and Internship Fund.  In 2012, the Foundation will award several stipends to law students employed as unpaid summer interns in positions with the FCC and other Federal, state and local government agencies with a connection to the communications industry (i.e., broadcasting, cable television, telephony, satellite, wireless, and information technology). In addition, the Foundation will select one outstanding intern among those chosen to receive an additional stipend for the summer—the “Max Paglin Award.”  Mr. Paglin was the former General Counsel and Executive Director of the FCC, and the founder of the Golden Jubilee Commission on Telecommunications, which compiled a definitive legislative history of the Communications Act.

Requirements: Applicants will be selected on the basis of: (1) a demonstrated interest in the communications field, (2) having secured or having pending, an unpaid summer position (internship) for at least eight weeks in communications with a Federal, state or local government agency with a connection to the communications industry, (3) dependence on financial assistance in order to accept the unpaid internship in a government agency or entity involved in communications; and, (4) community activities.  To the extent a recipient receives unanticipated funding for the unpaid internship, the FCBA Foundation’s general policy is to reduce its scholarship awards by any amount that a recipient’s total funding (including all sources) for the internship would otherwise exceed $7,000.Applications for internship funding should be submitted to Kerry Loughney, FCBA Foundation, 1020 19th Street, NW, Suite 325, Washington, DC 20036 or kerry@fcba.org.  Applications must be post-marked by Wednesday, March 14, 2012.  Applicants may be asked to interview with members of the Foundation Board; interviews may be conducted by telephone.  Winners will be notified by Monday, April 16, 2012.  To view the application, go to: http://www.fcba.org/foundation/internship_stipends.shtml or download the attached documents.

Georgetown Law Clinical Teaching Fellowship

Georgetown Law is offering 14 Clinical Graduate Teaching Fellowships to new and experienced attorneys for the 2012-2014 academic years.  Each two-year fellowship is associated with one of the Law Center's clinical programs, and each program varies in purpose, requirements, and duties.  All of the clinical fellowships, however, share a common goal: to provide highly motivated lawyers the chance to develop skills as teachers and legal advocates within an exciting and supportive educational environment.   Fellows directly supervise J.D. students enrolled in the clinics, assist in teaching clinic seminars, and perform work on their own cases or other legal matters. Fellowships will begin in the summer of 2012, with an intensive orientation designed to introduce fellows to clinical teaching methods. Upon completing the requirements for graduation, fellows are awarded the degree of Master of Laws (Advocacy).  Graduates of Georgetown's clinical fellowship program have gone on to prestigious positions in law teaching and public interest law settings. Teaching fellows receive an annual stipend of approximately $53,000 (taxable), health and dental benefits, and all tuition and fees in the LL.M. program. As full-time students, teaching fellows usually qualify for deferment of their student loans. In addition, teaching fellows may be eligible for loan repayment assistance from their law schools. With the exception of fellows in the Center for Applied Legal Studies and the Street Law Clinic, all fellows must be members of the D.C. bar. Fellowship applicants who are admitted to a bar elsewhere must apply to waive into the D.C. bar upon accepting their fellowship offer. The American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division 2012-2013 Scholarship

Apply for a 2012-2013 ABA YLD Scholarship today!  The ABA YLD Scholarship Program provides partial conference funding and an opportunity to become more involved in the Division.  Scholarship categories include:  General Practice, Solo & Small Firm Practitioners; Government, Public Sector and Military Lawyers; and Minorities in the Profession.  The Application deadline is April 1, 2012. 

The program consists of:

  • Per the Division's financial policy, scholars will receive partial funding to attend the Fall Conference, ABA Midyear Meeting and Spring Conference: round-trip airfare up to $350; $20 ground transportation; and $100 per diem (for two days)
  • Appointment to and active participation in one of the YLD boards or teams.
  • Mentoring
  • All scholars are required to: Attend the YLD Fall Conference, ABA YLD Midyear Meeting, and the YLD Spring Conference and participate in scheduled programming on Friday and Saturday of each meeting
  • Produce a written piece (i.e. 101/201 article, resolution for consideration at the YLD Assembly)
  • Assist on projects as assigned

To be eligible, a scholar must be a "young lawyer," which is defined as any licensed attorney who is under the age of thirty-six or who has been licensed for no more than five years at the start of the scholarship year (September 1).  Applicants for this scholarship program should be ABA YLD-eligible lawyers who fall within at least one of the scholarship areas.  There is no requirement that applicants be presently involved with a local ABA YLD affiliate.  Although applications will be accepted from non-ABA members, any person chosen as a scholarship recipient must be an ABA member before receiving assistance.  In addition, anyone receiving a scholarship must be present at all three funded conferences.

Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund for Progressive Social Change

ATTENTION STUDENT ACTIVISTS!
Are you organizing for progressive social change?  Leading student movements on your campus or in your community?  If so, read on.

The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund has grants available for student activists who are building progressive movements for social change and who will be enrolled in school during the 2012-13 academic year.  Since 1961 the Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund has provided need-based grants to students who are involved in building movements for social and economic justice and are able to do academic work at the college level.  Grantees are both graduates and undergraduates enrolled in accredited schools for the period covered by their grant.  Although citizenship is not a consideration, applicants must be participating in activities in the US and plan to enroll in an accredited program in the US in order to qualify.

The maximum grant is $10,000 and may be considerably smaller depending on the applicant’s circumstances and the funding available.  All the funds come from individual donors and there are 25-30 grants awarded each year.  Grants are for one year although students may re-apply for subsequent years.

Applications and the supporting documents — transcripts, a personal statement, two letters of recommendation, a photograph, financial aid reports — must be postmarked by April 1, 2012.  Those selected to receive a grant will be notified in July.

Defense Research Institute (DRI) 2012 Law Student Diversity Scholarship

The Defense Research Institute (DRI) announces its annual Law Student Diversity Scholarship program open to incoming second and third-year African American, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American students.  Incoming second and third-year female law students are also eligible, regardless of race or ethnicity. Incoming second and third-year law students who also come from backgrounds that would add to the cause of diversity, regardless of race or gender are eligible to apply.  

Two scholarships in the amount of $10,000 each will be awarded to applicants who best meet the following criteria: Demonstrated academic excellence

  • Service to the profession
  • Service to the community
  • Service to the cause of diversity

Applications must include three recommendations, one each from the following individuals:

  • The Dean or an Associate Dean of the student’s law school
  • A current or past law professor
  • An individual who is personally acquainted with the applicant, but who is not related by blood line or adoption.

Job Fairs: Don't Forget to Report Callbacks and Offers!

If you receive after attending a job fair, please report this to our office by sending an email to kentcso@kentlaw.edu every couple weeks or so.  Please include from what source you obtained the interview/offer (CCBA job fair, Loyola Patent Fair, etc.).  We keep track of these in order to determine how students are doing and where our students end up working during the summer/after graduation.  Also, if you have any concerns about how your interviews are progressing or questions about the interview process, please make an appointment to talk with a career counselor.

Access the BYU Intercollegiate Job Bank

Kent students and alumni now have an additional resource for their job searches. The BYU Intercollegiate Job Bank compiles entry level job postings from schools throughout the country. This resource will be especially useful for students and alumni conducting an out-of-town job search, but through this service you can also access the postings of other Illinois and Chicago area schools. To access this resource, log into Symplicity and select the “Documents” tab. Within Documents, select “Document Library.” The link for the Job Bank will be listed there. Clicking on the link will take you to a page with a username and password, which you should write down before clicking the link. The link takes you to the BYU Alumni page, and the Job Bank is about halfway down the page. After clicking that link you will be prompted to enter the user name and password. Then you will have access to a drop list of all 50 states. Picking a state will give you access to the job postings from the schools in that state. If you have any difficulties accessing the Job Bank, please contact the Career Services Office by emailing kentcso@kentlaw.edu.

    1. If you are an LLM student, enter LLM If you are a Visiting student, enter LV
    2. If you are a JD student your Class Year will be three characters. The first letter for all class years will be L. The second letter is your division. The third is your year number.
      Examples: A 2nd year night student’s class year is LN2. A 1st  year day student’s class year is LD1.

During your first time login you will create a username and password. Afterwards, you may log in directly at www.alumni.kentlaw.edu/advisorsearch using the username and password you created. International Career Employment Weekly Online

International Career Employment Weekly's goal is to make it easy for international professionals to keep abreast of all current job opportunities in their field. They collect information on current international job openings with governments, government contractors, United Nations agencies and other intergovernmental organizations, private voluntary organizations working overseas, corporations involved in international trade and finance, engineering firms, associations, foundations, student exchange organizations, universities, and state governments and present that information to job seekers in a clear and concise format.
