TIMELINE FOR THE LLM JOB SEARCH
MONTH |
ACTIVITIES |
August-September
|
- If you are considering taking the New York Bar Exam, you should request an evaluation of your foreign credentials at least six to nine months before the bar exam. We recommend that you do this even if you are
not sure whether you will take the New York Bar Exam. There is no cost to request an evaluation of your foreign credentials, and you can appeal if you are ineligible. Also, you should request an evaluation as early as possible so you don’t end up paying to take the bar and studying unnecessarily. The request for evaluation form can be accessed online at http://www.nybarexam.org/eval_form.pdf.
- Sign up for an appointment with a CSO counselor to review your resume and discuss your job search. (Email: kentcso@kentlaw.edu)

- Use the CSO library and online resources to locate potential employers.
- Send your cover letter and resume to employers. Keep track of where and when you send your resume.
|

|
- Make follow-up telephone calls to employers to whom you have written inquiring about the status of your application.
- Send your cover letter and resume to additional employers.
