Presentation by Microsoft and O/E

The anticipated migration to our new network infrastructure is scheduled to occur between June 29th and July 5th.  The Computer Center in conjunction with Dean Perritt have been working with the O/E Consulting group to engineer the most stable, scalable and powerful infrastructure. The consultants mapped out several alternatives for migration from our current system to the new.  The most rapid is a complete migration of all network equipment and every computer in the building during one intense period.  O/E staff and computer center personnel will be working on this transition for 5-7 days, 24 hours a day, beginning June 29th and ending July 4th or 5th.

The new network software will be coordinated and integrated with e-mail and web publishing and our desktop applications.  It offers unparalleled opportunities for collaboration between and among departments, students and faculty.  The new capabilities will take some time to learn and implement over the coming year.

Mayor Selim Beslagic of Tuzla, Bosnia Visits Chicago-Kent

Selim Beslagic, the mayor of Tuzla, Bosnia spoke to students and staff at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology on Friday, June 16.  Mayor Beslagic is widely known for his work in international human rights and is credited for Tuzla's respect for ethnic tolerance during the Bosnian war.   Mayor Beslagic, however, spoke about the vast environmental problems that now face Tuzla.  Dan Tarlock, Distinguished Professor of Law and Director of the Program in Environmental and Energy Law at Chicago-Kent also attended and discussed ways in which the law school might be able to assist Tuzla in developing new environmental regulations.  The program was co-sponsored by Chicago-Kent and the Bosnian Herzegovian American Community Center, and was coordinated by Global Chicago.
