Admissions
In Fall 2000, Chicago-Kent reduced the size of the full-time class
by approximately one third and enrolled 210 full-time students. This
year, Chicago-Kent continued its efforts to improve the quality of the
entering class and enrolled 225 full-time students, slightly over the
target of 210. Ninety students were enrolled in the evening program.
Over the course of two years, the overall quality of students at Chicago-Kent,
as reflected by LSAT score and undergraduate grade point average, has
increased significantly. The median LSAT for full-time students rose
from 153 to 156 in just two years. An LSAT score of 156 represents the
upper 70th percentile of all test takers in the nation. Over this same
time period, the median undergraduate grade point average has moved
from 3.15 in the fall of 1999 to 3.27 in the fall of 2001.
Chicago-Kent also continues to attract more applicants throughout the
country. For Fall 2001 admission, we received over 2,600 applications
for admission, an increase of 9% from the prior year. Out-of-state students
compromise 42% of the entering class, as opposed to 34% in the prior
year. Furthermore, 128 colleges and universities are represented in
the entering class.
