9/11 Observance
To mark the first anniversary of the September
11 attacks, we will hold a brief memorial observance on
Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. in the first floor side lobby, concluding
with a moment of silence at 9:29 a.m. to mark the time that
the second tower fell. In accordance with an announcement
from IIT President Lew Collens, classes will be suspended
between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
We will also hold a panel discussion on Wednesday from
3:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the Auditorium to address the legal
ramifications of the attacks, one year later. The panel
members will be: Professor Sheldon Nahmod, who will address
civil liberties issues; Professor Bartram Brown, who will
discuss international law developments in response to
the attacks; and Professor Susan Adams, who will review
developments in immigration law. I will serve as moderator
for the discussion.
